I dislike The Batman specifically because it starts him off as this and changes him at the end rather than just having him be a deeper character from the start.

@Babsfavorite I consider James Gunn one of the best superhero filmmakers of the current era, but this is definitely his major flaw. It’s like a monkey’s paw. Get more colorful and creative superhero films unafraid to adapt the niche corners of the universe, BUT, no element is taken seriously.

You can not sympathize if you want, but the message of both series being discussed is that harm is never as simple as “some people are bad.”

There are a few people being dumb about this, but all-in-all there are a lot more people confused anyone could interpret it differently in the first place.

I think this is pretty securely the majority fandom opinion, thus the detractors are just an unfortunately loud minority.

Am I wrong or is this not the intent? I mean not a full on comedy, but I thought the point was that Connor’s initial anxiety and depression was easy to sympathize with but he made all the wrong decisions and ultimately deserved his ostracization at the end?
