As an adjunct professor at Columbia Journalism School and a Columbia College and Columbia Journalism School graduate, I condemn today's letter signed by dozens of Columbia faculty members. Seeking to put the kidnapping, rape, torture, and murder of innocent Israeli civilians in "context," or referring to the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7 as "just one salvo in an ongoing war" is deplorable. Equivocating about violence against innocent people is wrong, whether we are talking about children in Gaza, women in Israel, or college students across the United States who are suffering from anti-Semitic and Islamophobic threats every day. This statement does not represent me and I hope that other Columbia alums and faculty of conscience join me in this rebuke #columbia
