just learned that one of the words for kidneys in Korean is 콩팥 (literally meaning "bean red bean"), which I think is hilarious
(the other way to say it is 신장-- not to be confused with 심장, which is "heart")
Using the app Habitica has been helping a lot in keeping me motivated! I've tried using it since high school, but it never stuck with me until this year (I think it's bc I recently learned what RPGs actually are and bc I found some challenges I actually enjoy)
although I haven't had much time for intensive language study so far this year, I'm proud that I've been writing journal entries in Spanish and doing duolingo for German/Japanese almost every day!!
@SpanishLexie it is! and I actually can't speak Korean that well haha but I can understand it since I'm Korean American and hear it all the time! I think it's more of a confidence thing (+ not knowing a lot of grammar), but I'm working on getting it better!
finally reviewed my Korean notes after not looking at them for almost a year! I missed studying it 🥲
I also finally organized my language study plan this morning, so I hope to get back to the swing of things next week!
I'm debating if I should make an account here... I started doing daily journal entries for Spanish, but tend to write about more personal things
I may write my journal entries on my own and copy/paste some excerpts of them on Journaly for corrections (if I do end up making one)
Here is a few Youtube videos in Spanish I have watched in the last few days that I found super interesting
I really enjoyed this video of him explaining habits for better brain health

🌱 2023 language goals 🌱
🪴 I started studying Japanese a couple of weeks ago! I hope to memorize all hiragana and katakana
🪴 I still struggle with the past tense + subjunctive in Spanish (esp when speaking), so I'd like to become more comfortable w/ using them fluidly
(1/?)
I was debating whether I should make language goals for 2022 bc I never end up meeting them, but I saw a video where someone just put up general goals for the entire year and that kinda inspired me
BUT I’m going to post 2 versions of my goals: low-stakes/bare minimum and ideal
I looked through my language learning notion page that made a while ago (and forgot about lol) and realized that I did none of my goals for 2022 gahaha 🥲 so I'll also be doing those this year!
Matilda the Musical en Netflix es my película favorita de 2022 omg vi en la Navidad con mis hermanas y ayer otra vez con mis padres y es una película maravillosa en general
🪴 this last one is more broad, but organization; so far, most of my language learning has been all over the place. I want to implement a system that I can stick with while doing all of my other responsibilities (job + studying for MCAT)

🪴 I say this every year, but consistency! especially once I graduate college in may
🪴 once I graduate, I also hope to take italki lessons at least once a week for Spanish (and, if I study it a little more, ASL)
