These minister are so far good. They are trying to bring back some changes in their respective department.

I will keep more eye on Prabhu after first inspection in first month still media is reporting Illegal truck is passing through Kerala.

Whether he bring change or same old mining mafia is operating? In one year we will get clear picture.

Tomato 🍅 price crash in Tamil Nadu.
It is counter seasonal price crash ₹12/Kg

Why price crash? And Tamil Nadu farmers are suffering from loss.

As i have attached chart June-Sep every year is peak month especially July month.

8Kg for ₹100 is arriving at wrong month. Tomato in Tamil Nadu is normally will price at ₹25-₹40/kg against current price of ₹12/kg.

Tiruppur- ottanchatram belt auctioning near ₹12/kg, even some in Dindigul farmgate auctioning at single digit price/kg.

Current price is below 85% last four year average price of July month.

Reasons

1. Synchronised oversupply — TN, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh belts all hit peak harvest at the same time, flooding wholesale markets simultaneously.

2. Acreage overshoot — Farmers expanded tomato cultivation in response to the strong prices of 2023–24 and 2025, so this season’s planting was structurally oversized.

3. Weak outbound absorption — TN’s usual release valve (moving surplus to other states) is saturated since neighbouring producing states are also gluttoned; reduced interstate/export offtake.

4. Quality discounting — Water stress and seed defects in belts like Tiruppur pushed a large share of arrivals into ordinary grade, which sells at a steep discount (~₹12/kg) versus premium stock.

6. Perishability + thin buffers — Tomato can’t be stored; India’s cold-chain and processing (paste/puree) capacity is too limited to absorb a glut, so excess supply must clear immediately at any price

7. No MSP mechanism — Unlike wheat or rice, tomato has no minimum support price floor, so there’s nothing to stop farmgate rates from falling below cost.

Net effect: farmgate realisation (~₹90/box) is well below break-even (~₹245/box), so many farmers are leaving crop unharvested rather than pay to pick and transport it at a loss.
