Much of the Brown Co land base was ultimately sold to Boise Cascade in early 80s. They had just purchased the pulp mill in Rumford Maine
The remaining portion James River kept.
Ultimately it all ended up under t
TIMO ownership. Some still is under TIMO ownership , but a large % is now owned by conservation groups.
During the TIMO era, I did a substantial amount of boundary line maintenance on that land base. Over a 10 yr period did over 1000 miles of line work for Wagner Forest Mngt -the forestry company for the TIMOs. Myself and a bunch of subs working under my contract

I grew up in northern NH. Remember the Brown Co mill well. When I was a lid it was James River. More than 1/2 the kids in my class had parents who worked there
