There is something that happens at OR Tambo immigration after you come back from an international trip. I see the sign SA passports holders. But it is when you approach the home affairs immigration, they look at your passport after you have greeted in English and the official says: “usaphila MaNdlovu?” This switch from English to your language. Then they continue to ask: “uhambe kahle?” you reply. While still checking your passport, they say: “sithembe ubuziphethe kahle nawe!” They stamp your passport and they say: “welcome home!” Your smile, your heart ke sana as you go to fetch your bags. Ikhona maan into eyenzekayo kuwe! Uncuma de uyophuma! Yes, we have problems but OR Tambo immigration officials you make it better! Even for those 3 minutes.

@Ajairei I think you're underrating it. It takes longer to get than CFA and it's more niche...most Nigerian firms rely on foreign actuaries and the local ones are often poached. It's a very intensive process in a sector that isn't glamorous.

@Ajairei Yes we don't have a large enough insurance market. You should look at qualified actuaries as something similar to CFAs not physicists, having a degree doesn't make you qualified.

Last I heard there were 6 fellows and 6 associates of the Nigeria Actuarial society. It's tough.

@lifeofdanel I get, wanted to highlight that the fields with gas used for LNG(export) are separate from those with gas used for powering power plants. So you can't decide to supply less power bcos you want to export more. You would take that decision before building the infrastructure out.
