“The students who cannot read a 20-page article today are the voters who will not be able to read a bill, or the jurors who cannot follow a closing argument, tomorrow.”
There was a point, 3 yrs ago, when Israel felt compelled to explain its attacks on hospitals. Then it realized Western govts aren’t fussed about such war crimes & Western media was happy to justify them. And so here we are: dozens of hospitals bombed in Gaza, Iran & Lebanon.
A man just figured out how to pull drinking water straight out of thin air — in the middle of the desert.
No wells. No pipes. No river for miles.
Just sunlight and the sky.
His name is Omar Yaghi, a chemist at UC Berkeley, and in 2025 he won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
His machine can harvest up to 1,000 liters of clean water a day — even in air where the humidity drops below 20%.
That's enough drinking water for roughly 500 people, every single day.
The secret is a material he helped pioneer: metal-organic frameworks. Picture microscopic sponges, packed with millions of tiny pores.
At night, as the air cools, the material quietly drinks in water vapor. By day, the sun heats it up, and the trapped moisture is released, condensed, and collected as pure drinking water.
No external power. No filtration plant. The whole thing runs on sunlight.
It's already been tested in one of the harshest places on the planet — Death Valley.
The full-scale version is about the size of a shipping container, built to drop into communities where water is scarce or where disaster has wiped out the supply.
He spent his career turning an idea almost nobody understood into water people can actually drink.
And now the sky itself might become a tap.

"Let me read the @guardian's analysis directly:
1,100 Palestinian civilians. Over 275 children. Murdered executed, shot, beaten, run over & not a single Israeli, not 1 soldier, not 1 settler, not 1 police officer, has been prosecuted. 0. Nothing.
This is not a failure of the justice system. This is the justice system.
Because when Palestinians submit complaints, and they do, they file thousands of them, less than 1% end in indictments.
Let me put that in perspective. If you are a Palestinian in the West Bank and an Israeli settler shoots your father in front of you, you have a 1% chance of even seeing an investigation. You have a 0% chance of seeing a conviction.
Now, imagine the opposite. If a Palestinian throws a stone at an Israeli soldier, military court, indefinite detention, possibly death, that is not a conflict. That is a racial hierarchy. That is aparthied."
This is what the genocide apologists were so proud about yesterday in New York. Apartheid.

Now that Gaza lies in ruins—shattered, like a beloved face after a long brutality—Israel moves with a terrible confidence to the next act: The act of leaving every soul there not merely wounded, but permanently disabled. Injured, sick, hungry, homeless, without work, without hope. This is not war’s collateral damage. This is design.
As my friend Gideon Levy writes—and he knows, he knows—this is the prelude to expulsion. Think of it: a society without teachers, without doctors, without social workers, without engineers, without clerks. That is not a society. That is a holding pen. A slow erasure. And when nothing functions—no school, no hospital, no office, no heart—then it becomes ‘easy,’ they tell themselves, to scatter the people to the four corners of the earth. Like seeds from a broken pod, except no soil will take them.
We must name this. Not with rage alone, though rage is honest. But with the cold, clear tears of recognition: they are making life impossible so that departure becomes the only ‘choice.’ And the world watches, adjusts its spectacles, and calls for restraint. Restraint! There is no restraint in a slow drowning.
I can’t see you how you can possibly avoid using the term ethnic cleansing, without losing your last remaining shreds of integrity as a journalist, Adam.
Lebanon's internal displacement rate is now 22.6 percent — more than one in five of its people. Over 1.2 million people, including 350,000 children, have been forced from their homes, with the IDF launching more than 1,840 attacks on Lebanon since March 2, killing more than 1,497 people and injuring more than 4,639.
Moreover, the language used by Israel Katz to describe his aims in Southern Lebanon is extraordinarily explicit and self-incriminating. He has confirmed that Israel's military would establish a permanent "security zone" inside Lebanon up to the Litani River, that hundreds of thousands of displaced residents would be "completely prevented" from returning, and that "all the houses in the villages adjacent to the border in Lebanon will be demolished in accordance with the Rafah and Beit Hanoun model in Gaza."
The targeting of civilians for displacement specifically identified by their religion (Shia), combined with the destruction of their homes to prevent return, combined with the explicit statement that they will not be permitted to return — these are precisely the elements that international law identifies as forcible transfer and ethnic cleansing. Human Rights Watch has said that "the displacement of the Shia population looks less like a temporary military necessity and more like a move to permanently displace the civilian population based on their religion."
Its not complex, Adam. You just haven't got the balls to say it straight, and that failure makes your reportage worse than worthless. It makes it morally bankrupt.
What is a ceasefire with Israel? It is a strategy that allows the international community to turn away while Israel continues to bomb indiscriminately. How is this acceptable?
🔴 Lebanese Ministry of Health:
4 killed, 127 Wounded, and Severe and Extensive Damage at Jabal Amel Hospital
The Public Health Emergency Operations Center of the Ministry of Public Health issued a statement announcing that the raids launched by the Israeli enemy in the vicinity of Jabal Amel Hospital in Tyre yesterday, Monday, June 1, resulted in 4 people killed and 127 wounded. Among them are 39 members of the hospital’s medical, nursing, and administrative staff, distributed as follows:
4 doctors, 27 nurses, and 8 employees—four of whom are in critical condition and receiving treatment in intensive care.
The aggression also caused severe and extensive damage across the hospital's various floors, departments, and parking lot.
The Ministry of Public Health salutes the courage of the administration and workers who insisted on keeping the doors open and continuing the humanitarian and health service mission carried out by Jabal Amel Hospital under the burdens of unprecedented danger and violence.
The Ministry emphasizes that this attack, and the martyrs, wounded, and damage it caused, is nothing but a further embodiment of the law of the jungle that the Israeli enemy strictly applies, defying all laws, charters, and resolutions approved by the international community.
Science gasps for breath. They are removing all the ocean monitors to understand changes in currents and climate, and the excuse is a master class in obfuscation & double speak . (1/2) https://t.co/vs782YbcI3
Breaking: Israel has just killed Dr. Jamal Abu Aoun, Head of the Anesthesiology Department at Yaffa Hospital in Deir al-Balah.
Dr. Abu Aoun, was among Gaza’s dedicated medical professionals serving patients amid the ongoing genocide.
Everyone should watch this speech.

AJ Faultlines documentary, Kids Under Fire, won "Outstanding War or Violence Conflict Coverage" at the 2026 News #Emmys in New York City yesterday.
Josh Rushing dedicated the award to journalists killed by Israeli forces.
One of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world - the ancient city of Tyre - designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its incredible historical sites. This is what it looks like today following multiple Israeli airstrikes.
In an era of bulky, restrictive dry suits for military watermen, UC Berkeley physicist Hugh Bradner reframed cold-water survival around a counterintuitive idea: let water in, then trap the body’s heat instead of sealing it out. That shift in thinking became the foundation of the modern wetsuit.

A reminder of the lengths to which the Israeli government went to avoid International Criminal Court prosecution for its war crimes against Palestinians. Senior Israeli officials, like Trump, should be charged for obstruction of justice. https://t.co/eeg7VlloU6
There are multiple reasons why Sudan is the world's worst human crisis today, multiple bad actors. But the UAE is one of the worst, with its support for the brutal RSF militia committing mass murder and mass rape. Pres. Trump, having taken $500m from the UAE, is silent about it.
"Democrats failed to meet the moment in 2024. Americans were rightly fed up with Democratic hypocrisy and complicity in the gross violation of the values we profess to hold dear. That in turn, hurt our credibility with voters." https://t.co/cFyBFqNimk
Israel killed Fadi Almeghari today in Gaza.
He was not armed.
He was not a combatant.
Fadi was a journalist and photographer documenting the genocide against his people.
Israel is deliberately murdering the people showing the world its crimes.
