Add to this the numerous departments and prosecutor offices that quietly changed their policies and training to functionally make actual policing impossible. Most officers genuinely want to keep their community safe, but their department’s ability to fulfill its purpose was destroyed by politicians, political appointees, and activists, and it was done behind closed doors with bureaucratic policies so that the average person had no say or oversight, and so that the people that destroyed them can play dumb and hide from the responsibility of their actions.

I genuinely don’t know how the gaming industry operates like this. In almost any other industry openly hating and antagonizing the consumers that purchase your product usually gets you fired. In the gaming industry it seems to be openly accepted if not encouraged.

A few years ago I was in Munich for Oktoberfest and when I passed the beer tents all of them were playing music from the 70s, mostly American.

The next day I went to Cannstatter Volksfest in Stuttgart, same thing.

I was getting dinner at one of the beer tents and the band started playing YMCA and I saw young Germans (looked like mostly teenagers) up by the stage, having a good time, dancing to it.

Completely confused, I waved to my Austrian server and asked him,

“Hey, is this what younger Germans listen to? This what my Dad listens to back in America.”

He turned to look at the crowd by the stage, then back at me. He leaned over and quietly said,

“Now you see why they lost the war.”
