On this day in 1782, Gen. George Washington established the Purple Heart as a Badge of Military Merit. More than 1.8 million Purple Heart medals have been presented since the award was created in 1782.
So many times caregivers forget about self-care... It's easy to not think about yourself when you are thinking about others. As the @DoleFoundation puts it "you can't pour from an empty cup" - take care of yourself, it can be as simple as taking a walk in your driveway!
Remember, you can't pour from an empty cup. 🥛 By taking care of yourself first, you can continue caring for others. Tell us, what self-care activity are you going to treat yourself to this weekend?
.@RIServes and @RIVetsDirector will be at the RI Purple Heart Trail Dedication today, will you be there? Many thanks to the Veterans, families, advocates, elected officials, and most of all - the Purple Heart Medal recipients who we pay tribute to on #NationalPurpleHeartDay

Do you ever wonder why people say everything is within your power? It's because it's true! Our mind is so powerful, that we can do anything.. sometimes it takes help and support, but it can be done! You are never alone! Look deep inside..
No matter how big or small the obstacle you're facing is, you already have the best tool to tackle it: yourself. You are capable of so much more than you can imagine!
Say the last part louder for the people in the back 📣Self-care is a priority for 2021, and it's so important for both your physical and mental health! We love and heed these words from Patti Walker, a caregiver Fellow from Kansas.
