Four years after he first lit up the National Stadium on the Dangerous World Tour Michael was back in Romania ahead the early European leg of his massive HIStory World Tour. MJ arrived in Bucharest on this date in 1996, focused on humanitarian work, cultural events preparations for his tour.

MJ visited an orphanage and gave out toys and donated 35 million Lei (approximately $1 million) to the orphanage. Michael also visited the monument dedicated to the victims of the 1989 Romanian Revolution where he knelt down before the memorial and paid his respects before being invited to the Palace of Parliament.
