We spoke to Lodewijk this afternoon about his consumer-owned land fund. He and his wife run an organic dairy farm and have an event room available to rent as well as a care farming business
Today we heard from Joanne who is using crowdfunding to make the transition to sustainable farming. Her farm produces their own cheese and has 4 self-service farm shops operated entirely by app.
Yesterday we spoke to Pieter who runs a self-harvest market garden with over 400 members outside of Wageningen, NL. The business was crowdfunded by members investing in the land.
Marcel demonstrating the app used for purchasing farm products at their distribution centre - as a distribution entre rather than farm shop they enable cheaper product prices
This week we are visiting the Netherlands (both in person and online) to learn about Dutch models for new entrants accessing land and capital including #crowdfunding

Huge congrats to Chris Scott-Park of @PortnellanFarm, winner of the final NEWBIE @newbieuk Award for Innovative New Entrants. Originally a successful organic beef business, the farm now features a thriving water sports operation set up by Chris. Well done! https://t.co/zvSYTKLbFG
As well as money towards training or a farm visit, Chris will accompany us to the final NEWBIE conference in Montpellier this month. Congratulations to Chris and thank you to all entrants (it was a tough competition this year).
We are very pleased to announce our final #NEWBIE UK award winner is Chris Scott-Park of @PortnellanFarm. The panel were impressed with the use of off-farm skills and bringing diversification to a larger farm.
