The distinction between producer and consumer, artist and critic, creator and audience is being remixed even more totally right now.

We have lived through the evolution of monolithic brands to companies that do well because they use social media and smart survey design to really *listen* to their user base, and at the same time we've seen Wikipedia and massive open source software collaboration rise up...

The logical endpoint of this feels to me like a revolution in narrative production and identity in which the ways we interact with other people's minds and work become the raw material for others to riff on, laying bare the way culture has always been about the creative recombination of what's already there. It's a world in which the value generated by how you explore, utilize, make sense of, and repackage "content"—your contributions as a curator—becomes something you and yours can access again, not just something extracted and made available only to the big tech platforms.

It's been hard for me to find time to paint a full portrait of this shift outside of private conversations, but I can point to @newfound8ion as one of the most promising projects and most obvious indicators in this new adjacent possible, and I'm excited to be a part of the superb cohort involved in their launch...
