There are people you see on the backside for years before you ever hear their story… and when you finally ask, you realize they all say the same thing in their own way: racing has places that feel like home.
For Dan, it started at Pocono Downs at 10 years old.
For 25 summers, Saratoga has been his peace.
Next stop: Gulfstream Park — December 8–14.
Amplify Horse Racing extends our sincere thanks to Dave Smyth for his generosity and commitment to supporting the next generation of the Thoroughbred industry.
Following his recent win in the 2025 Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge, Dave chose to donate 5% of his prize money to Amplify to help advance youth education, mentorship, and career pathways in the sport.
In a recent interview on "At The Races with Steve Byk," Dave shared why this mission resonates with him:
“One thing that I think is really important about the sport is, we're only as good as the next generation. And so one thing that I've decided I'm going to do with the prize money is donate 5%… to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit called Amplify. Their mission is completely on making the track for the next generation through education, mentorship, and careers. They're launching a program within the state of Kentucky this next year that's hopefully going to bring a whole new generation of people into the industry, which secures the future.”
