All students, regardless of background, should have the chance to develop the skills to apply to the UK’s most selective universities. We help them to do that.

@nextstepfoundEd was originally created by Bonas MacFarlane in 2016 as the University Preparation Programme. Seeing in the first cohort in 2017!
This year, the team welcomes a new CEO and here he tells us a bit about himself & the charity’s mission!

@BarristerSecret Hi, @nextstepfoundEd delivers a university preparation programme for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to help them access the most selective universities, with a specific track & support for law. https://t.co/2unas1C0uV
Wow - powerful suggestion from @pathik10 that the word (and accepted meanings) 'equality' is replaced by 'equity', and 'inclusion' by 'belonging' (so that 'EDI' becomes 'EDB'). His arguments are really worth getting your head around!

"Disadvantage doesn’t stop at 16, and for young people without the support at home, this is the crucial time that defines their later careers."
We help students from disadvantaged backgrounds in accessing the very best in HE.

Week 3 of the 2021 @nextstepfoundEd University Preparation Programme - we believe a fundamental reason for our student’s consistently high acceptance rates to selective universities is a product of starting preparation early.

Our 2020 cohort’s last extension lecture. Students will now discuss in small group seminars. It is in such sessions that they learn the skills to navigate academic interviews but, more importantly, how to engage in intellectual discussion and improve thinking patterns.
The challenge for students from #freeschoolmeal and #wideningparticipation backgrounds doesn’t stop once a student is accepted at a top university - our Alumni Network supports students beyond our University Preparation Programme. Thank you to @haleighdiana for Tuesday!
@golding57@_higgins_j@MarcusRashford Absolutely. Forward always. Well keep trying to do our bit for those applying to university to help them get where they deserve.
Such a pleasure to catch up with this young man from our very first cohort yesterday. Now in his third year @LSEnews Mohamed was so committed to the programme and it was clear the potential he had. #wideningparticipation#FreeSchoolMeals#university
