Who is Matsuo Basho?

Who were Percy and Mary Shelley?

She was born on August 30, 1797, in London, England, to the philosopher William Godwin and the feminist writer Mary Wollstonecraft. Unfortunately, her mother died shortly after her birth. Mary grew up in a literary and intellectual environment, greatly influenced by her parents' ideas and their circle of intellectuals.

Mary Shelley is best known for her novel "Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus." She conceived the idea for the novel during a summer stay in Switzerland in 1816 and published it anonymously in 1818. "Frankenstein" is a groundbreaking work of science fiction and Gothic literature, exploring themes of creation, responsibility, and the consequences of unchecked scientific ambition.
In addition to "Frankenstein," Mary Shelley wrote other novels such as "The Last Man" and "Lodore" and edited and promoted the poetry of her late husband, Percy Shelley. She also wrote travelogues, biographies, and short stories throughout her life.

Who is Joseph Goguen?

Who is Alonzo Church?

Ada Lovelace and Lord Byron

Lord Byron was a renowned poet and public figure who lived during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. However, Byron was also a man of great talent, and his works, including "Don Juan" and "Childe Harold's Pilgrimage," are still widely celebrated today.

The Story of Daedalus and the Minotaur

In Greek mythology, Daedalus was a skilled craftsman and inventor who was known for his ability to create innovative tools and machines. One of his most famous creations was the Labyrinth, a complex maze-like structure that was designed to house the Minotaur.

The Minotaur was a creature with the head of a bull and the body of a man. According to the myth, the Minotaur was the result of a curse placed on King Minos of Crete by the god Poseidon. The curse caused Minos' wife to give birth to a monstrous offspring that was half-human and half-bull.

To contain the Minotaur and prevent it from causing havoc, King Minos ordered Daedalus to construct the Labyrinth, a maze that was impossible to escape from. The Labyrinth was so complex and convoluted that even Daedalus himself had trouble finding his way out.

However, Theseus, the son of King Aegeus of Athens, managed to enter the Labyrinth and slay the Minotaur with the help of Ariadne, King Minos' daughter. Ariadne gave Theseus a ball of thread that he used to mark his path through the Labyrinth and find his way out after defeating the Minotaur.
