National Farmers Union

National Farmers Union has been working since 1902 to protect and enhance the quality of life of American family farmers and ranchers and their communities.

[National Farmers Union @NFUDC]

Rural America is struggling. Why? Because the monopolies dominating agribusiness are squeezing them from all sides. That’s why we’re standing up for farmers, because consolidation hurts farmers, ranchers, & everyone across the country. #FairnessForFarmers

[National Farmers Union @NFUDC]

We need action. Enforce the Packers and Stockyards Act, enforce antitrust law already on the books, enact mandatory country-of-origin labeling and invest in independent processing so farmers and ranchers have real fairness in their operations.

[National Farmers Union @NFUDC]

President Trump and Secretary Rollins are elevating what NFU has been saying for decades: monopolization is crushing family farmers and ranchers.

[Secretary Brooke Rollins @SecRollins]

We are on it Mr. President!

Our great AMERICAN ranchers produce the highest-quality, most incredible beef in the world AND it is a matter of national security that we be able to feed and fuel ourselves.

Big announcements starting Monday — including:

✔️ waiving red tape in processing
✔️ expanding ranchers ability to sell across state lines
✔️ rescinding outdated guidance
✔️ adding technology for faster safety data
✔️ growing real support for small processors (funding and deregulation)
✔️ fighting consolidation so small processors can compete
✔️expanding truth in labeling

The world is hungry for American beef! 💪🥩

MUCH MORE TO COME!

#WFO mourns the passing of Dave Velde, former WFO Vice President and Board Member representing the North American Constituency.

He served farmers with wisdom, integrity and dedication for many years.

AFT joined @NFUDC, @NASDAnews, & @sustainableag in calling for inclusion of local food purchase as part of a congressional ag relief package. This bipartisan approach would provide reliable demand for farmers, nutritious food to communities, & keep more dollars circulating in rural America. https://t.co/3P5BURdN26

[National Farmers Union @NFUDC]

.@SecRollins agrees with Farmers Union - mandatory country-of-origin labeling would create a fairer, more competitive market for American ranchers. Congress needs to restore this critical policy and provide consumers the transparency they demand.

The NFU's Rob Larew says as rural representation is lost over time, the need for that coalition supporting a Farm Bill is going to be even more important.

. @POTUS is taking on the Big Beef cartel.

🥩Four packers:

Cargill, JBS, Tyson, and National Beef—control 80%+ of America’s beef supply.

JBS and National Beef are effectively run from Brazil, where exports to China help set U.S. beef prices.

That squeezes ranchers and hits consumers.

President Trump has directed DOJ to act

WED | National Farmers Union's Vice President of Advocacy (@NFUDC) Mike Stranz discusses the state of the U.S. agriculture industry including the impact of tariffs and the recently announced aid package to farmers.

Watch live at 8:00am ET!

[National Farmers Union @NFUDC]

Real scrutiny, enforcement, and accountability are long overdue. Investigating monopoly power in agriculture and upholding antitrust laws are essential to rebuilding fairness and competition in our food system.

[National Farmers Union @NFUDC]

We agree—American ranchers aren't to blame for high beef prices. It’s time to go after the big four meatpackers who dominate the beef industry, driving up prices for consumers and pushing family farmers and ranchers to the brink.

[Secretary Brooke Rollins @SecRollins]

THANK YOU, @POTUS for standing up for America’s farmers, ranchers, and consumers! 🇺🇸

For far too long, hardworking ranching families have been squeezed by massive foreign-owned meatpacking corporations manipulating prices and driving family operations out of business. These global monopolies profit while everyday Americans pay more at the grocery store and rural communities struggle to survive.

It’s time to put America First again in our food system. We need transparency, accountability, and a fair market that rewards those who actually raise and produce our beef — not the corporate middlemen gaming the system.

Thank you, President Trump, for fighting for the heartland, for our farmers and ranchers, and for standing up to the corrupt forces that threaten our food security and American independence. 🇺🇸🐄🌾

[National Farmers Union @NFUDC]

We commend @USDA, @SecRollins and @TheJusticeDept for hearing NFU’s call to action and stepping up to confront these challenges facing family farmers and ranchers.

[National Farmers Union @NFUDC]

"American agriculture is at a breaking point. Rising input costs are hitting family farmers and ranchers hard, and corporate consolidation is a major cause," said NFU President Rob Larew.

Thank you, @AAGSlater, for welcoming Farmers Union members to @JusticeATR.

Family farmers from across the country voiced their concerns about consolidation in agriculture and urged stronger antitrust enforcement to ensure true fairness for farmers in the marketplace.

“I would rather be on my farm than be emperor of the world,” said George Washington. Today, @JusticeATR listened to our nation’s farmers at DOJ. Thank you for the visit.
