@seraleev Sure, but just take it out a little further on the timeline ... why would anybody want to use your app when they could vibe code their own now?
Why will anyone keep using app stores?
Remember that all government money is counterfeit.
Such money began as discrete quantities of a real commodity: silver or gold. Such money was used and trusted because it was a bearer proxy for this real good; the paper (valueless) a receipt for a quantity of metal (valuable).
And then the metal was stolen by the US Federal Government from all holders of the proxy instrument. The public was rugged, and now all government money is counterfeit, aka fiat.
That the world continued on without rebellion says something about how easily the masses may be deceived so long as a charismatic man with a flag pin stands before them.
When will he next appear before us? What illusion will we next be asked to believe?
The bill for this crime is paid every year by everyone holding fiat, as they see prices rise and struggle with the attendant consequences of being paid in an asset debased in perpetuity. They attribute their suffering to some phenomenon of nature, or to the greed of capitalists, rather than to that specific act of fraud on August 15 1971.
@jeremiahrogers Initial sync takes a long time.
But if you're using a cloud provider, you can take a snapshot once synced.
Then just wake it up every week to sync up. Takes about 5 minutes. Then take another snapshot.
@ebfull@0xDoubleSpender@zkDragon@ztipme@zooko@mert@friedberg@GoodTexture@tyler The more you describe it, the more it feels a lot like the concept of Dash masternodes, where collateralized full nodes run extra services for the network. And I can see this dovetailing nicely with some form of crosslink, though I'm not sure what the end result would look like.
Zcash $ZEC the so-called “privacy coin” is discussing plans to use cloud backups for your SEED PHRASE, *and* charge you for the privilege.
You don’t hate them enough.
@ztackingzats Where do you get it? https://t.co/0wZ9U7loZo very confusing for me, I expected it to work like ZODL swaps but get "no balance" message instead.
@BlockedHedge@BarrySilbert I mean I like Ycash, I just think zcash has more of the ecosystem in place.
And I'm not bothered by the ideological differences that caused the split. I can see how a dev fund was necessary originally.
Though I would probably pick more up if they had a swap feature like Zodl.
@starseeker1334 Cloud storage is fine _if you encrypt everything_.
Deduplicate, encrypt, normalize file chunk size, store on all kinds of clouds. But the cloud-native UIs won't work for access, and you'll need to BYOK (bring your own keys). Not your keys, not your secrets.
Just found out that Berkeley course staff are writing hooks inside course repos so if a student opens an assignment in Claude Code or Cursor the agent will automatically ping the staff 😵💫 well played
