Today in Science, we looked at the properties of materials. We started to conduct an experiment. We wanted to know which material would be the most suitable to make an anchor. We predicted which materials would float or sink, before seeing the results.@NHP_WAT

Today, in RE, we looked at how we should care about our planet. We then created these poster.

We are delighted to share our fantastic work. Today, in History, we learned about the Barbary pirates. Next, we wrote a diary entry and pretended to have been kidnapped by some evil pirates.

We had the visit of two fearless and fierce pirates @TimeCapsuleEd . They explained us the life of a pirates during the Golden Age of Piracy. We then played Persute, a ship-chasing game where the ship Resilience tried to escape two dangerous pirate ships. What a brilliant day!

Today, in Elm class, we learnt to use an atlas. Then, we drew our map of the world. Finally, we indicated the five oceans and the seven continents.

This week in Elm class, we learnt about 2D and 3D shapes. We used our iPads to create 2D shapes using geoboards, and built 3D shapes using straws and plasticine. Can you name the shapes we made?

Today, in Science, Elm class found out about the life cycle of a frog. Next, they had a go at drawing the life cycle and gave an explanation.

Year 2 travelled back to the past and experimented with shopping. Children collaboratively prepared items that could be found in shops in the 1930s. They opened a bakery, a pharmacy, a confectionery and a fishmonger. Next, they were given some money to do their daily shopping.

Year 2 have been learning about healthy eating and food preparation 🍎🍌🍐🥒 This afternoon we practised our cutting and slicing skills, remembering good hygiene and safely using kitchen utensils. We ended with a yummy snack! 😋
