Dear Friends,
THIS CALLS FOR A DEBATE
In the process of finding solutions to the present crisis between Tangkhuls and Kuki villagers in Ukhrul and Kamjong Districts, reading through the history of Kamjong and Ukhrul is very important. To clear the clutter and understand the root causes of conflict, one has to go deeper. A study of the extension of ethnic affiliations of Kukis in the Kabaw Valley, the geographical distribution and approaches of ridges entering from southern Nagaland into the Ukhrul-Kamjong region, and the rise of NSCN(IM) in Ukhrul—if read together with the aim of finding the causes and solutions to the present crisis—will surely declutter the false narrative being set at present.
In the same process, I am amazed, surprised, and anguished to find that the Ukhrul-Kamjong Districts were once Kuki-dominated. 70% of the population and villages were Kuki, and the claims of the Tangkhuls today are questionable. Even the head of the region was Kuki, and Chassad was a flourishing place.
However, once the clashes of the 1990s took place, Kukis were forced into mass exodus. There were around 67 villages—like Grihang, Choro, Gamnom, Singcha, Singkap, Kamtong, Chakap, Mollen, Selmei, Dolmoi, Maku, Meitei Kuki, Momong, Ashang Khullen, Ashang Khunao, Bongbal Khullen, etc.—under present-day Kamjong District, and 45 villages—like Tora, Poi, Khokon, Shaibol, Haijang, Lamjang, Mulam, Jaolen, Thenjang, Wapaching, Leijum, etc.—under present-day Ukhrul District that were Kuki villages.
The population was living in harmony and was progressive, but the shadow and fear of the Jaupi Massacre and later the ceasefire of NSCN(IM), which gave it freedom to exercise barbaric methods, forced locals to run away to save their lives. The blind eye of the government and the forces stationed to ensure peace in the region failed to save the Kukis.
This needs serious introspection by the forces deployed today in Kamjong and Ukhrul. Who is the real victim? Or is it the self-proclaiming "Peace Loving Community"—the Tangkhuls under the umbrella of NSCN(IM) & ENNGO—who are gradually working to secure their Nagalim cause? Is everything for Greater Nagalim?
Or are there facts which the Tangkhuls in the region can debate to prove that the findings of history are wrong and that their claim in the region has weight?
A debate on the subject, without communal affiliations and with a neutral approach, will surely create a passage for peace. Hope still exists because Kukis in Kamjong have decades-long experience of staying alongside Tangkhuls peacefully.

A Humble Appeal to the Nagas of Nagaland from a Kuki
Dear Nagas of Nagaland,
You must be outraged by the recent killing of 6 Naga civilians. You would want to know more about the turn of events, and you deserve to hear things from a Kuki perspective too.
The recent violence between Kukis and certain Naga tribes is unfortunate and very much avoidable.
To begin, I must take you back to the beginning.
On 3rd May 2023, Kukis and Nagas held a joint rally opposing ST status for the Meiteis. The Meiteis knew well that they could not fight both Kukis and Nagas, so they started attacking Kukis. Since the rally was a joint one, the Manipur Nagas should have joined the Kukis to repel the Meiteis. Sadly, they left us to fight alone, and we bore the brunt. Many Nagas, however, gave humanitarian aid and saved lives in Imphal. They still professed neutrality.
Were the Tangkhuls Neutral?
Neutrality? Absolutely not. It was the Tangkhuls who gave safe passage to Meitei UGs from Myanmar to enter through their area. Anthony Shimray and Biren Singh were hand in glove. Then 4 Kukis were killed in Ukhrul, allegedly by Meiteis. But would that have been possible without Tangkhul help? Yet Kukis still cried silently. Then two Kuki villages were burnt by NSCN-IM on the Indo-Burma border. We watched helplessly.
Kukis started fighting back against the Meiteis with determination. However, there were areas in the valley periphery where Kukis had to cross Tangkhul villages. Tangkhuls stopped allowing us to take rations through their villages. Since even our volunteers were not allowed to enter with rations, we had to abandon an entire sub-division called Island Sub-division in Kangpokpi District! Tangkhuls were eyeing those areas, and they will now fall into their hands.
The ploy to make it a Kuki-Naga conflict:
Fast forward: NSCN-IM started using its proxy, the ZUF (Kamson) group, to attack Kuki villages in Noney and Kangpokpi. About 4 Kuki villages were burnt, but they always said it was due to poppy farms. That was adding insult to injury. The Liangmai village of Konsakhul, from where 6 Liangmais died, had also constantly blockaded our only lifeline between Churachandpur and Kangpokpi for months. The Kukis knew the game of the Tangkhuls to involve other Nagas, and therefore never retaliated.
How Kuki-Tangkhul tension escalated:
One day, Kukis went and destroyed one Tangkhul poppy field, took videos, and shared them widely. The Tangkhuls felt exposed. Very soon, a drunken brawl happened between Tangkhuls and Kukis in a village where the chief is Kuki but Tangkhuls also reside. If it had been left as a drunken brawl, things would not have escalated. The next day, Tangkhuls started burning Kuki houses. The Kukis retaliated the following day by burning the Tangkhul section of the village. Ever since, tension has remained high. Kukis did not retaliate in the Zeliangrong area but did retaliate in the Tangkhul area.
Meanwhile, NSCN-IM (Eastern Flank) and the Hebron Camp group started having a conflict. They even started killing each other. To avert more factional killing, they again started burning Kuki villages so that they could fight a common enemy.
The first blood was spilled with the killing of two Kuki men:
On 11 March, three Kuki men went missing and were reportedly taken hostage by Tangkhul militants. In an effort to secure their safe return, members of the Kuki community in the Litan area detained 21 Tangkhul persons. As part of what was described as a gentlemen’s agreement, the 21 Tangkhul detainees were released unharmed with the expectation that the three missing Kuki men would also be returned safely.

Subject: Serious Breach of Patient Confidentiality and Mislabeling of Injured Civilians
Respected Sir/Madam,
I wish to express deep concern regarding the reported leaking of a patient’s medical records, ward details, and personal information. Such disclosure constitutes a gross violation of medical ethics and patient privacy. Hospitals are entrusted with the duty to protect lives and uphold the dignity of every individual seeking care, not to expose them to harassment or intimidation.
Equally disturbing is the alleged labeling of injured civilians as "militants" without any official determination or due process. Baseless accusations of this nature not only damage the reputation of patients but also fuel hatred and place vulnerable individuals at greater risk.
I therefore urge RIMS to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation into this serious breach. Necessary steps must be taken to hold those responsible accountable and to ensure that every patient can access medical treatment with full assurance of safety, dignity, and confidentiality.
I trust that the administration will treat this matter with the urgency and seriousness it deserves.
Yours faithfully,
The Proud Indian

PRESS RELEASE
Kuki Civic Action Committee (KCAC) Condemns Continuing Aggressions Against Kuki Villages and Ancestral Lands
The Kuki Civic Action Committee (KCAC) strongly condemns the continuing aggressions, intimidation, and attacks against Kuki villages and ancestral lands allegedly carried out by NSCN-IM and the Kamson group. These repeated incidents have created fear and insecurity among vulnerable Kuki communities and threaten peace and stability in the affected areas.
For years, Kuki-inhabited areas have faced repeated provocations, coercion, and encroachment. The latest attacks on fringe Kuki villages in the Twilang area along the Imphal–Tamenglong Road are not isolated incidents but part of a disturbing pattern that endangers the existence, security, and dignity of Kuki settlements.
KCAC expresses deep concern over the continued targeting of innocent civilians, destruction of livelihoods, and attempts to dispossess Kuki communities of their ancestral lands. Such actions are unacceptable and must be condemned by all peace-loving people.
The Committee calls for the immediate cessation of all forms of aggression, intimidation, encroachment, and violence against Kuki villages and territories. Attacks on civilians and attempts to terrorize Kuki communities must stop immediately.
KCAC further urges the Government of India and the Government of Manipur to take urgent and decisive measures to ensure the protection of vulnerable Kuki villages, prevent further violence, and uphold the rule of law. Failure to act will only embolden those responsible for destabilizing the region and undermining peaceful coexistence.
KCAC stands firmly with the people of Twilang and all affected Kuki villages. The Committee reaffirms its commitment to defending the rights, dignity, security, and ancestral lands of the Kuki people through democratic and peaceful means and calls upon all democratic forces to condemn these continuing acts of aggression in the strongest possible terms.

ALL EYES ON MANIPUR GOVERNMENT:
I strongly condemn any form of violence against innocent, unarmed civilians.
To my surprise, I came across many Meitei social media handles targeting the Kuki-Zo community across various platforms. Let me remind this community: it was you who started this cannibalism and barbarism — torture worse than what radicalized Muslim jihadists have done to others. If the Manipur government had been serious enough to handle this situation, it could have been stopped at that time. Just like in Nongthombam Biren Singh @NBirenSingh's audio leak: "KYA TUM BOMB MARTE HO".
1. How on earth will the whole world forget May 4, 2023, when two innocent Kuki-Zo women were paraded naked before the world? The footage resurfaced after two and a half months on July 19, 2023. Was any action taken? NO
2. How on earth will we forget when a 7-year-old child, Tonsing Hangshing, his mother, and his aunt were burned alive in an ambulance near Iroisemba by members of the Meitei community on June 4, 2023? That too in the presence of Manipur Police and Central Paramilitary Forces. Was any action taken against those responsible? NO.
3. The gruesome torture and murder of David Thiek at Langza Village on July 2, 2023, is still fresh in our minds. The man responsible, Mairembam Ramesh Mangang, was reportedly seen shopping in a Delhi mall. Was any action taken? NO
4. Have the Meitei forgotten what they did to Mrs. Zosangkim Hmar on November 7, 2024? She was brutally raped and burned alive at Zairawn Village, Jiribam. Was any action taken? NO
5. When the Kuki-Zo released all 18 Tangkhul captives on March 11, 2026, as per assurances from the Government of Manipur, what did the Tangkhul NSCN-IM do to the unarmed, innocent civilians Thangboimang Khongsai and Thengin Baite? Their mutilated bodies were found on March 12, 2026. Did Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand @YKhemchandSingh and Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam @KonthoujamG take any action as per their promise? NO.
6. Has any action been taken against Tangkhul NSCN-IM and their allies ZUF-Kamson for brutally killing Rev. Dr. Vumthang Sitlhou, Rev. Kaigoulun Lhouvum, and Pastor Paogoulun Sitlhou on May 13, 2026? The answer is NO.
7. When Wanglee, Namlee, and Choro were attacked by unknown miscreants, Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam @KonthoujamG visited the area under the supervision of Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand @YKhemchandSingh. Did Yumnam Khemchand @YKhemchandSingh and Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam @KonthoujamG care to visit or condemn the incident when Kultuh Village was burned to ashes and two religious leaders were mercilessly murdered in cold blood?
My advice to the Meitei and some other communities is to stop lecturing others on MORALITY, ETHICS, and HUMANITY,
Kindly STOP this double standards please.
Let me quote Lieutenant General Pradeep Chandran Nair's line once again: "There was no Manipur Police in 2023." This line is very much applicable. He should have added, considering how they run their narrative campaign against one particular community: "There was no Manipur , only a Meitei Government."

To,
NAGA INTELLECTUAL FORUM
Subject: Forced Recruitment of Naga Youth under Tashar Village Guard (MUIVASA)
The 1st Batch Passing Out Ceremony of the Tashar Village Guard (MUIVASA) was conducted on 28th May 2026.
Many Naga boys and girls who were forced to join this batch are now being sent to fight in a war orchestrated by the NSCN(IM). This organisation has been desperately trying to engulf every Naga village to provide volunteers for the war, so that Tangkhuls can avoid being isolated in the ongoing crisis.
Just look at the model of the stick held by these poor children. Look at their dress. The stick resembles an automatic weapon; the black T-shirt bears the NSCN(IM) flag. The flag of this fractured organisation is trying its best to stand upright, and the banner has been placed to advertise its success.
A crisis created by the NSCN(IM), and now a bigger catastrophe being created by the same organisation by forcing young Naga youth to waste their precious time taking up arms and becoming its proxies. A few days ago, these children were holding pens. They were preparing for competitive exams to secure their future. Many never wanted to join but were forcibly recruited through the Chit System — a system created by self-centred local-level active cadres, retired NSCN cadres, and retired government officials who are forcibly sending children to the frontline.
Whom are they facing? Whom are they fighting? Why did this crisis start? What is the end of this crisis? What will happen to their families if they die? What did Jamang get after his death? There are many such unanswered questions in their minds. But the most important one is: What is their future now? Once a boy takes up a gun and goes to a combat zone, will he be able to do well in life?
Why are the sons, cousins, and relatives of Thuingaleng Muivah, V.S. Atem, Anthony Shimrah, General Aleng, Sword Vashum, and senior NSCN(IM) cadres not involved in training as NVG? Why are the daughters and wives of active NSCN cadres not coming forward? Why is there a Chit System?
Will the NSCN(IM) pay the price for the loss of life?
Will the NSCN(IM) pay the price for the lost future of the Tangkhul community?
Will the NSCN(IM) pay the price for the civilians who are dying daily on highways?
Fuelling a war is very easy. Today, Tangkhuls may feel proud of this training and of youth going to fight, but there will be a day when the same youth — illiterate, jobless, faceless, directionless, and headstrong because of his gun — will return to blame his own parents and his own society.
More boys will die, more boys will join. A few will sustain bullet injuries and scars for life, and time will not be able to heal the pain.
The time lost now will never return.
The silence of parents and society will produce the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th batches. Every day a new boy is picked and forced to train, until everyone becomes a proxy. Thousands will learn to fight, only to fight their own brothers in the future.
The NSCN(IM) motto these days is: "Train to drain its own society systematically," so that no one rises, no one questions, and no one blames.

THE CONFUSED TANGKHUL-MEITEI CAUGHT UP IN "LONG LIVE MANIPUR" SLOGANS
I was wondering how long this bonhomie between the two separatist communities would last. Before 2023, both communities had a fierce rivalry over domination, control of the Golden Triangle international drug mafia, and the illegal arms smuggling business across the border. They have secessionist narco-terrorist links in Myanmar that have carried out anti-India campaigns from there for the past five decades: one for Greater Nagalim and the other for Kangleipak.
However, when both Minai communities failed to force the Kuki-Zo community to conform to their own whims and fancies, they joined together to fight, setting aside their secessionist ideology and differences. Just like the famous line: "The enemy of my friend is my enemy."
I thought their bonhomie would last at least a month or two. Unfortunately, their shady relationship sabotaged itself last night during a Manipur TV interview, all in the name of "LONG LIVE MANIPUR."

IN RESPONSE TO TANGKHUL NAGA LONG PRESS RELEASE, May 26, 2026.
The Tangkhul Naga Long, mouthpiece of the NSCN-IM, appealing to the NSCN-IM and ZUF for an immediate ceasefire and dialogue, reminds me of my neighbor couple who always fight in the evening and happily take morning walks together, hand in hand, as if nothing happened, despite their swollen eyes.
I would like to appeal to the Tangkhul Naga Long: if you are seriously seeking peaceful coexistence with other communities from Tamenglong, Chandel, and Senapati, please ask all Tangkhul NSCN-IM cadres to move out of those areas and be stationed only in Tangkhul areas, i.e., Ukhrul. Please spare Kamjong District too.
This has nothing to do with so-called internal issues. Tangkhul supremacy politics and diktats have successfully imprisoned all Naga tribes through this ploy of the NSCN-IM. The people of Chandel, Senapati, and Tamenglong coexisted peacefully with their neighbors before the Tangkhuls arrived for their NSCN-IM business expansion.
Regarding the reference to Nagaland, where all factions coexist mutually — this is yet another absolutely wrong narrative from the Tangkhul community. A former Chief Minister of Nagaland, Dr. S.C. Jamir, has categorically stated that the Tangkhul NSCN-IM has completely destroyed Nagaland’s economy and education sector due to rampant extortion, damaged Nagaland’s tradition of hospitality by creating fear psychosis among the people, and even impacted its religious forums. Just imagine — Nagaland without the Tangkhul NSCN-IM would be no less than a European nation. Tangkhuls are not even included in Nagaland’s indigenous tribe list.
Just leave Nagaland and settle all your NSCN-IM cadres in Ukhrul.
Since you have sacrificed 50 years for the so-called Greater Nagalim after meeting your blood brothers, the Meitei, all Tangkhul NSCN-IM cadres may get a chance to settle down within the 650 sq km known as Manipur (Kangleipak).
The policy of hegemony, dominance, and power politics is played by the Tangkhul NSCN-IM, not others.
Kindly stop mentioning ANCESTRAL LAND in other areas. You may mention it only for Ukhrul. If you seriously want NAGA UNITY, please leave Tamenglong, Chandel, Senapati, and Nagaland immediately. Find solace in Ukhrul.

Are astronauts NEIL ARMSTRONG and RAKESH SHARMA from the Tangkhul community?😆
I was literally shocked to go through the NSCN-IM mouthpiece and Tangkhul CSO platforms that instigate violence in the hills. I read the TANGKHUL NAGA LONG press release the other day in their response to the WORKING COMMITTEE OF KUKI CSO UKHRUL (WCKCSO).
I would like to remind this NSCN-IM mouthpiece: please stop using the term “ANCESTRAL LAND” in your terminology. You may issue 100 press releases a day; it’s a democratic world. As a matter of fact, the so-called ancestral land doesn’t suit you, since the so-called Kamjong District should have been called Chassad District. Due to typical NSCN-IM Tangkhul supremacy politics, most Kuki villages were either demolished, destroyed, or burned down one after another.
The people of Kamjong stayed under the guidance and permission of the Chassad Chief, and all adjoining villages were under the Chassad and Maokot Chiefs. How many families, villages, and persons worked under the Chassad Chief can be ascertained.
Litan Sareikhong, Shikibung, and Thawai Kuki were established before your forefathers even existed on this planet. Proof and evidence attached.
The so-called Namlee, Wanglee, and Choro villages — which are the epicenter of the drug business, illegal arms smuggling routes, and illegal routes for Myanmarese Tangkhuls to enter Indian territory — were established recently on February 10, 2010. Proof and evidence attached.
The 10-year anniversary of their village establishments was celebrated on February 11, 2020.
If you keep manipulating things by intentionally ignoring the truth, one fine day your children will say, “Neil Armstrong, the man who landed on the moon, was a Tangkhul boy from Kasom Khullen,” and that Sharma was also from Ukhrul, Viewland 😄
