In Fahrenheit 451, the abolition of reading began with tech companies simplifying books into summaries that you could read in five minutes. Because people no longer engaged with the texts, they forgot how to think. Then came the book-burnings.
@somethings_awry For me (AuDHD) it's more the divide is so confusing. Oh I hadn't talked to you in months, but you're still inviting me to your birthday? Sick, still close.
But then with new peeps... When are we 'friends'? How the fuck do I know if I should invite you over for dinner or cones?
@exitsenses Nw, hope it didn't turn into a transformational experience that ultimately made your life better at the cost of months/years of pain and lost relationships and groups, growth that you're grateful for but tinged with bitterness. Catch ya!
5yo: nobody wanted to play with me at recess, i was so sad
me: aw i’m sorry, who did you ask?
5yo: nobody. i just hid the whole time and no one found me
@jkearnsmiller @SNeurotypicals Staying up to read another page about the Ottoman Empire even though you have work in 3 hours, 0/10 would recommend tho, fascinating stuff
@strangestloop You're forgetting to account for the fact that future you who encounters the same problems will not be the same as you now. Since we're growing, and we can change, we can't use current success to indicate future success.
@BLUNDERBUSSTED Oh and:
A good multivitamin and multimineral to ensure good nutrition (take the time to research this well!! So many shiet products out there)
All these came from my psychiatrist and I have found them all helpful
@BLUNDERBUSSTED Listed lowest effect to strongest:
Magnesium citrate after any exercise
Magnesium glycinate an hour before sleep (relaxes muscles, incredible sleep quality)
NA-C to clear oxidative stress (3g/day), especially if ADHD results in anxiety
Clonodine for sleep (night)/focus (day)
@grimoire_garbo @BLUNDERBUSSTED Gabor Mate is a hack on this topic (not others) and every aspect of his proposed theory has been disproven time and time again in both qualitative and quantitative trials.
His claim that it's 0% genetics, for example, is easily disproven with genetic testing and symptoms.
@user0000O0 Hard to say - could be regular changing interests/hobbies, a need for a break from them to pick up with more enthisiasm later, or a medical term would be anhedonia for if it's part of a depressive episode
