Continental Congress HAS SIGNED A DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE!
The UNITED STATES are OFFICIALLY INDEPENDENT from BRITAIN.
LIBERTY BELLS ring out throughout Philadelphia; the streets ERUPT IN ECSTASY.
Two hundred and fifty years ago, a group of Americans signed their names to a piece of parchment and made a promise no nation had ever made before: that we're all created equal, endowed by our Creator with unalienable rights — life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
We're the only nation in history built not on ethnicity, or blood, or geography but on an idea. That's always been what makes us exceptional. We chose that path 250 years ago but that’s where the work began, not where it ended. Every generation has had to choose it again. At Valley Forge, at Gettysburg, on the beaches of Normandy, in the streets of Selma. Americans recommitted themselves to the principles on which our nation was founded.
Now it's our turn.
There's nothing guaranteed about our democracy. We have to fight for it, defend it, and earn it. Over and over, year after year. That's not a burden. That's what it means to be an American.
250 years in, we still haven't fully lived up to those words in the Declaration. But we've never walked away from them, and this July 4, I hope all of us can commit to one thing: that we never will. I don't believe we're as divided as we're told we are. I've bet my whole life on the American people, and I'm not stopping now.
Happy 250th birthday, America. Our story isn't finished. Let's keep writing it together.
@billlski66@jaredhowe@DougAMacgregor This is literally classic appeasement. Give Hitler the Sudetenland. If you give him what he wants, he’ll stop there. The Czechs and Poles should stop worrying
This is nuts and should be getting more attention. People should only be detained for probable cause, with a warrant, and certainly not because of the color of their skin. Using Homan's logic, and his words, you can be detained at Home Depot for looking or being Hispanic. Insane.
These days have been so chaotic, that trump's Deportation Nazi, Tom Homan, just admitted that his agents are racially profiling detainees "based on their physical appearance," and it was barely a blip in the news.
What the fuck, America?

@Love_Freedom69@Show713@OliLondonTV Book deals, Netflix deals, being paid to give speeches, sitting on corporate boards. In the modern age, it is easy for ex-Presidents to make money. Some Presidents sign book deals the week they leave office with $5 and sometimes $10 million advances.
@visegrad24@nayibbukele ...security, but when liberty is surrendered, you rarely get it back. You have been a fighter for Western freedoms for the years since I have been following you, and this statement seems to fly against much of what you and others have fought for.
@visegrad24@nayibbukele A state of emergency has been declared since 2022 in El Salvador, which has suspended constitutional rights. Although most in that prison are gang members, many detainees are also opposition figures. I have followed your account for years, but you seek to sacrifice liberty for...
@visegrad24@nayibbukele Do you support sending American citizen criminals to El Salvador then? Would that not meet the constitutional definition of cruel and unusual punishment. This certainly qualifies as unusual if American citizens are sent.
@Walz4prez I like Tim Walz but have backed Pete Buttigieg since he first formed an exploratory committee in early 2019 (And I also backed him in his run for DNC Chair in 2017). However, if Walz was the nominee, I would enthusiastically support him.
@StephenM On top of that, some American car companies don’t make sedans anymore. The preferred style in Europe and Japan are sedans, and I bet a lot of Americans prefer them as well.
@StephenM It’s because the Toyota I drive has lasted almost a quarter of a century and still works. Japanese cars are well-designed. American cars are too big and don’t last as long.
@DEM4DUMMIES@brentdgifford@Bubblebathgirl I went to a big protest in Port Jefferson on Long Island with a bunch of friends. A lot of people are pissed off. Why is it that at these protests where people are allegedly paid, I miss out?
