@StuCowan1@xwleblancx@AndrewBerkshire@WaveIntel@MarcPDumont@nickBinTO@krimar It’s every draft for every team. NJ didn’t need a C, they wanted a W or Dman. They took Nemec. Seattle needed a 2C or better, took Wright, Arizona needed to not pay a player, so they took NCAA bound Cooley.
Habs needed a #1C and a #1 D but a scout said “against men” and they 🤮
@Habarnac Did any of the teams around them in the standings really move the needle? I guess the Islanders? But almost all of them gave up significant assets. I see no reason the Habs still couldn’t still beat any of them in a playoff series and they didn’t touch the war chest.
@MitchSchwartz71@SandoNFL@BenFennell_NFL Legit chance he ends up top 5 all time in TDs and top 10 in yards. A lot of it done without good QB play. The peak might not be at the level of some others, but it’s a HOF career
@Mikelytw@brendanshowbiz Matheson has never been great in his own end. Savard might be the worst of the bunch. Hutson is very young and a rookie. Barron, Arber and Struble are fringe guys. It shouldn’t be that shocking that a team with one legit defender (Guhle) and that many young guys is struggling.
@MeatPolitics@pepleunited@MitchyGallo They didn’t ’let him go,’ they traded him for the 13th overall pick and a 3rd because he didn’t fit their timeline anymore. Trading him part of the start of their tear down. They still had Kane/Toews playing for them the season after trading Dach.
@BWildeMTL The team is worse on paper now than on opening night last year (in Hutson/Roy, out Allen/Monahan), and the expectations are much higher. Why? Seems like a lot of pressure on Hutson.
@thetuscangrill@sashalaGarde They got a 20 year old former 3rd overall pick coming off a 20 goal season for Sergachev, and essentially Kirby Dach for Romanov… there’s two examples
@AaronNagler@greggrosenthal The concept of drafting a QB when you don’t need one makes sense. Taking that QB, at that pick, having just committed $100 mil to another guy, feels like the wrong way to do it.
@AaronNagler@greggrosenthal Taking a developmental guy at 8 overall after giving your new QB $100 mil is not the same as drafting Jimmy/Love in the 2nd/late 1st
@2STARTHEU@TheRealAdamColt@LukeEasterling But you think “my team drafted a guy a few years ago and it didn’t work, so they shouldn’t draft another guy at that position” is a good way to evaluate?
