The Austin City Council voted 10-1 to allow up to 5-story, single-stair buildings. Austin joins a growing list of North American cities & states bringing back the once popular building type and allowing more flexibility in the types of housing produced in the City.

@cityjane IMO @vonlane is the best option for Austin to Houston (considering rail doesn’t exist). Compared to flying it’s cheaper, faster, WAY more comfortable, and offers downtown departure/arrival locations. 7 daily trips.
A site plan has been filed for a 14-story Home 2 Suites hotel at Guadalupe & MLK. It'll have 170 rooms, and the site was formerly a Pizza Hut and some small retail buildings.
