@afshineemrani This is what science and medicine needs more of. Challenging past beliefs in each field is so important to drive progress and innovation. This was a very interesting read!
This is probably the most sustainable way to go about improving your health. For a lot of people, the stress of having to be perfect every day is not worth at times. And like you said, it's hard for some people to find the time for this.
You'll still get a lot of the health benefits if you eat mostly healthy, just make sure not to let it spiral and opt for eating out regularly.
@Outdoctrination I usually will go to frozen shrimp instead of a protein shake if I'm short of my protein goal. Likely a slightly healthier alternative and almost as convenient if you buy them frozen and pre cooked.
@drmarkhyman This is probably more sugar than most people should have in an entire week. I don't even understand how it can taste good with that much sugar.
@gymmaxxfit Making healthy foods is way easier than people make it out to be when you're cutting. I had a cheeseburger for dinner tonight, which can be pretty unhealthy, but as long as you stick to minimally processed foods it'll be good for you.
@TheWarEnglish What about the weight gain we see in randomized controlled trials. Lots of people put the weight right back on once you take away the glp1. I think that’s probably the number one concern.
The reason all gut supplements do more harm than good is because...
Your gut has its own built-in healing mechanism.
And the way to strengthen it's natural abilities is very simple...
Eat foods high fiber - x,y,z
Raw fruit - xyz
Vegagents - xyz
I guarantee you will sleep better, feel better, and have a lot more energy throughout your day.
Remember: Your body is designed to self heal...
And the best way to help yourself is to eat as many natural foods as you can:)
@Alphafiles1 If done correctly, eating breakfast is probably a little better than fasting. From my experience, as long as you’re eating clean foods, breakfast give you energy and limit cravings.
@thegarybrecka Lifting weight is also strongly linked to longevity. More muscle mass improves metabolic function and it’s important to pack it on when you’re young because it goes away quick as you get older.
Agreed. The original post is a very misinformed take on my opinion. I can see the point with the core power protein shakes, those aren’t ideal. But I dont really get how Oikos triple zero is a terrible food. Its ingredients are fine and good protein for low cals. Also tastes pretty solid.
Great points! I find that super restricted diets are not only unsustainable, but not well balanced. I think it’s a problem that a lot of these diets are deficient in important nutrients.
Also if u have a little bit of unhealthy food once in a while, you probably won’t really see any significant long term negative health effects as long as you can control yourself.
@Alpha_Prime__ The other day my coworker came into work with a parfait because they wanted to start eating healthier, but I looked on the label and it had over 20 g added sugar.
Unfortunately there are far too many fake health foods out there right now. Gotta know what you’re buying.
@MrAcezzz To be fair pasteurization doesn’t destroy much of the nutrients. I think the risk of drinking raw milk is probably not worth the marginal benefits in my opinion. Risk of salmonella and other pathogens.
I think the correct stance is somewhere between these two. The protein drinks are probably not ideal for health, but not as bad as the original post makes it out to be.
Agreed that we can handle them, but I also think minimizing compounds that we know are are linked to health problems is probably beneficial too.
Agreed, these are much better and safer alternatives than full sugar sodas.
I would say they aren’t amazing though since there are links to gut issues related to aspartame and sucralose. Also there have been some studies that shows a potential for over eating after consuming artificial sweeteners, potentially meaning they can affect hunger signaling.
