"Something Better Australia"
I've been waiting for someone to start the new party that Australia needs. I was hoping it would be a Malcolm Tunbull, a Bridget Archer, or even a Julie Bishop. But the old guard don't seem interested in fixing the mess they helped make.
A millennial being the one to roll up their sleeves doesn't surprise me though. We have the most at stake - another 30 years ahead of us in the workforce, a property market inflating faster than our capacity to save, and a conviction to pass on something more to our children than their grandparent's inheritance.
Mortlock's call for a party "radical in ambition and in tenacity" struck me - when I've daydreamed of doing the same my working party name was "The Radical Centre". Australia needs big vision, drastic change, and the conviction to take risks and make things happen. Instead the major parties offer us culture wars, focus groups politics, horse trading and cynicism.
It's obviously very early days for this organisation, but I'll be watching closely. Is there any hope for "Something Better"? God knows. Is there any hope with the two majors? God no!

@BrentHodgson Call me an idealist but surely if you just got promoted to lead the party that’s because of your amazing agenda, rather than it being an afterthought and a ‘challenge’? (Also the agenda is there for the betterment of Vic rather than for the purposes of winning an election but ok)
@RoadknightThe Because since the Morrison/Frydenberg era they’ve treated economic responsibility as a brand, not an obligation. E.g. failing to claw back Job Keeper payments when people were sacked. Dutton’s Nuclear policy, bowser cash back etc. was economic nonsense. And now that brand is dead
😂
(In all seriousness though, it’s probably time to knuckle down and work harder than ever. If the Liberals are dealing themselves out of the role of Opposition, perhaps it’s time to talk about what’s next, replacing the Liberals, & how future govts are to be held accountable?)
What would Liberal climate and energy policy look like if it were truly pro-market, pro-science and forward-looking? Here’s our op ed in today’s @FinancialReview - with @allegraspender#auspol
Yesterday was a wonderful day.
I got to meet one of the people whose content gave me the courage to face the reason I transitioned in the first place.
I have been wanting to thank each one of these courageous people for fighting for people like me.
Yesterday I got the chance to meet one.
Because of your relentless pursuit of truth, intolerance of intolerance, in the face of overwhelming resistance, at the expense of your own safety and reputation, I was able to find my way back and detransition.
Thank you! ❤️🩹

I'm tired of people telling me the government is helping, when the consensus of experts and the Productivity Comission is that they are boosting the fortunes of sellers, not buyers.
Keir Starmer is now the most unpopular British Prime Minister in recorded history.
This is what happens when you make endless pledges you don’t keep, and do endless things you promised not to do.
@Ausbobsmit Wrong as you always are.
AUS 2025 ALP 34.56% 94/150 seats = 62.7%
UK 2024 Labour 33.7% 411/650 seats = 63.2%
UK 2024 was first past the post

A carbon price remains the most economically efficient way to reduce emissions. Well done Rio Tinto for being brave enough to say what major party politicians won’t! #auspol
So, my headspace; personaly I don't know what to do. I don't know what any 30-something is supposed to do. Let alone a 20-something.
We can't aford a house. Can barely afford rent.
All i know is it shouldn't be this way, and it's time we stood up.
503 days to sort it out.
