@DrDavidPrice@StephenMorganMP@Keir_Starmer Any government would have had to have done something and this is the least worst. It doesn’t have to be permanent but waiting years for a trial is unfair to victims and witnesses. Delays have gone up to as much as 5 years in some cases.
No they didn't as they did not need to
The Judges outlined a litany of errors in the legal process without the need for any ECHR 'involvement'
That included a failure to provide prior notice and a massive failure of the Council to address a change of use request under Tory rule fpr a year when legally it should have ben dealt with within 8 weeks.
The Council also originally agreed use of the hotel for 138 migrants
This is the heart of the problem in the USA right now. Is there the rule of law for all, one rule for some and another rule for others? @maitlis thank you for this. Niemoller’s words are condemning.
What are we waiting for exactly ? The Niemuller poem feels over quoted.
“ First they came for the communists ..” etc. But it’s playing out in real time in America right now. Once you’ve turned a blind eye to immigrants / students / lawyers / university heads / government officials … it’s insane to think it stops here … 🧵
