"Let America Be America Again," by Langston Hughes:
"Let America be America again.
Let it be the dream it used to be.
Let it be the pioneer on the plain
Seeking a home where he himself is free.
(America never was America to me.)
Let America be the dream the dreamers dreamed—
Mitt Romney to Harvard Business School graduates: "There's more to a country than its economy. To be a great nation, it must also be a good nation. The world needs good men. It needs good women. Good leaders. Good parents raising good children. There is no national success that could compensate for failure to be a good and noble people."
This is 100% completely unsustainable as a society.
Nearly 50% of all consumer spending now comes from the top 10% of earners.
The bottom 80%?
Their share keeps falling.
This is why the economy can look strong in the data while millions of people feel like they're falling behind.
This disconnect between economic data and economic reality for most Americans explains why the Bidenomics pitch failed and why Republicans are in political trouble now. Billionaires, multinational corporations, and tech monopolies have a disproportionate amount of money & power.
Today we witnessed CBS capitulate to Trump.
I created Democracy Docket to never back down or obey. It has no corporate backers, venture capitalists or private equity. It's only accountable to its members who support its 22-person team. Become one now. https://t.co/kE97Dwd0G3

A cartoon about my father from the 1960s. At the time he was assassinated, a poll reflected that he was one of the most hated men in the United States.
Today, his message has been distorted by many who would have hated him then, but evoke him now to deter justice and truth.

By analyzing $4 trillion of shipments between January 2024 and November 2025, researchers found that foreign exporters absorbed only about 4% of the burden of last year’s U.S. tariff increases by lowering their prices, while American consumers and importers absorbed 96%.
The tariffs had a significant effect on trade volumes: Facing higher U.S. tariffs, Indian exporters maintained their prices but reduced the volume of shipments to the U.S. by 18%-24% relative to the European Union, Canada and Australia, the report found.
Rather than acting as a tax on foreign producers, the tariffs functioned as a consumption tax on Americans. The $200 billion in additional U.S. tariff revenue last year “was paid almost exclusively by Americans.”

When you take phones out of classrooms, fights, anxiety, and depression go down, grades go up, and kids are happier and more-focused.
While Washington is gridlocked, Michigan is showing the way forward to come together across the aisle to protect our kids.
When nurses go on strike, it is for YOUR benefit. The most skilled nurse in the world can't properly care for patients when they are under staffed, over worked, or feeling unsafe. If millionaire hospital CEOs can't meet nurses and patients needs, they aren't qualified for the job
Renee Nicole Good, who was shot and killed by ICE agents in Minneapolis today while observing an operation from her car, should still be alive.
Gun violence in all forms is unacceptable. The Trump administration’s inhumane immigration policies are creating fear, tearing families apart, and putting entire communities in danger.

Over the past few decades, America has spawned a meritocracy that has come to dominate business, government, media and culture.
The populist right wants to replace it with something older, cruder and more corrosive: a naked plutocracy—rule by the very rich.
My take:
Hamilton said the constitution limits the President’s foreign policy powers because “an avaricious man might be tempted to betray the interests of the state [for] the acquisition of wealth.”
Senator Schumer is no longer effective and should be replaced. If you can’t lead the fight to stop healthcare premiums from skyrocketing for Americans, what will you fight for?
