@Tireebirder@BirdGuides@PatchBirding Didn’t see either when I went back at 3ish, but probably about half the Goldies then, none there at all at 6. Here’s a short clip of the ad from near Kilkenneth the other day.
Good to be back on Aggy, finally caught up with the Laughing Gull on Gugh this pm, best birds this week though have been the 4 Turtle Doves hanging around Coastguards - sadly more than I’ve seen in the last 20 years.
@Moorlandbirder@Northmoorbirder@bto_somerset1@somersetbirds As I understand it’s prolonged snow cover which nobbles them, had a few around last week as well. Counted over 20 in one area in late autumn so I think they had a great breeding season and will hopefully remain established even with some attrition.
@hobbylovinglife@WWTSteart@somersetbirds Thanks Karen, I guess it’s possible - think they typically live 3 or 4 years and there were 2 young last time. They could even be breeding locally, as yet undetected……..
Pretty impressive shearwater spectacle from the Scillonian this morning - one of the best I’ve experienced on this journey in 38yrs of regular visits. @scillybirds
@JulianThomas19@somersetbirds@ryanfrost1984 Light can be great from Stert Pt in the evenings, best if it coincides with high tide - I’ve seen both species of petrel together here in the breakers right in front of the new hide - worth the hike!
