22 women in Iran’s Evin Prison are being subjected to sexual abuse during brutal body searches. Their open letter exposes the horrors: humiliation, assault, and dehumanization. They risk torture for speaking out. How much longer will the world ignore their screams? https://t.co/8jY0Uq4L0k @IranIntl_En

“This is the biggest cohort of pediatric amputees in history,” a reconstructive surgeon who specializes in pediatric trauma said, of the record number of children who have been injured in the war in Gaza. https://t.co/WUS8BCRsWu
@ATT is literally one of the most expensive phone companies, & y’all have the audacity to have a service outage for hours with zero updates being given to your customers? Y’all got 1 hour to wrap this shit up! Fix it & fix it now 😒 #ATT
I’m so sad Andre Braugher won’t ever guest star on Abbott Elementary as a retired Shakespearean college professor who thought subbing for 2nd grade would be easy and gets the surprise of his life
Y’all love conflating conflict and drama with trauma porn. When I tell you Black filmmakers cannot be on this site and make their work in peace, this is why.
In 1960, David Latimer placed a spiderwort plant in a big glass bottle with a bit of water and sealed it.
He only opened it once in 1972 to add more water and then closed it forever.
This little garden in a bottle has been growing for over 60 years.
How does it work? The garden in the bottle is a self-running ecosystem.
Bacteria in the soil eat the dead plants and turn the plant's oxygen into carbon dioxide for photosynthesis.
The bottle is essentially a small model of Earth.
As a Bosnian, I’ve actually even found it surprising how revenge killings never happened. It’s not as if we are not forced to live side by side, sometimes directly next to, the same people who participated in our genocides.
Because the oppressed only seek freedom and equality while the oppressors are scared that should the oppressed be given freedom they will treat them the way they were treated by the oppressors. In reality, this is just unequivocally untrue.
Black Americans got their freedom from slavery and while racism continues to put them at a significant disadvantage in American society, there is still a significant lack of these supposed “revenge killings”.
From the sources I have read, there have also not been revenge killings in Rwanda either. In fact, it’s quite difficult to find revenge killings post-genocide. If they do happen, they’ll often extremely isolated incidents…and are usually condemned by the larger community.
I think there are people who truly believe that should the oppressed get free, they will seek revenge but in the vast majority of genocides…including the Native American genocide that has not been the case. The oppressed do not seek revenge but freedom.
There are also quite a few sources that note that when Jewish survivors of the Holocaust were resettled to Palestine, the Zionists who were already there viewed them as weak, held them accountable for their own genocide, and thought they didn’t defend themselves enough.
