Important announcement from ATTACC, @ACTIV4a and @remap_cap: Full-dose blood thinners decreased need for life support and improved outcomes in hospitalized COVID-19 patients https://t.co/2tVsALK92u
Thanks to the continued efforts by our sites and their teams, there are now over 900 patients enrolled into ATTACC. We couldn’t do it without the dedication of our team, sites, partnerships with @remap_cap and activ-4 @nih_nhlbi, institutional partners, collaborators and funders!
Yesterday, we had our highest daily enrolment to date. Today we have 800 patients enrolled into ATTACC! Every enrolment helps us (ATTACC, @remap_cap and #activ4) get closer to answering important questions on the efficacy of heparin in COVID-19 patients.
To those who falsely think our hospitals are not currently completely overwhelmed, let me be clear:
When you hear we have ‘empty ICU beds,’ these are care spaces that DIDN’T EXIST last month. Our ICUs are well over 100% capacity, if your denominator is preexisting ICU beds.
Couldn’t do it without your dedicated and consistent enrolment with 88 patients randomized at @UChicagoMed (so far!). Thanks @Jonathan_PaulMD and team!
The ATTACC trial has randomized 700 patients! Partnered with @remap_cap and the NIH, our multi platform RCT is the largest COVID anticoagulation trial in the world. Over 1300 enrolled in 3 platforms. Follow @ATTACC_COVID for trial updates. @PatrickLawlerMD @ecgoligher
If someone’s sister breaks their leg slipping on the ice, I want there to be a bed for them.
If someone’s uncle undergoing chemotherapy develops an infection, I want there to be a bed for them.
If someone’s grandmother has a stroke, I want there to be a bed for them.

It cannot be stressed enough - things are extremely dire in Manitoba and we are at a critical junction.
Our hospitals and ICUs are bursting at the seams. I’ve truly never seen anything like this in the ICUs and on the wards...ever.

7 days into code 🛑. Still setting records, high daily case count, high test positivity. Rush hour traffic still full. People out and about. While a little early to judge, there has been no palpable change. Hospitalizations, icu admissions and deaths will continue. #StayHome
