I've been a @sacbee_news subscriber for years. Just last week I was telling someone how the quality of coverage seems to have gotten so much better. And now McClatchy has gutted the newsroom. This is so sad. Local journalism is necessary to keep people informed & gov accountable.
Hearing the sad news that dozens of reporters working for McClatchy have been laid off. Don’t have details at the Bees in Sacramento, Fresno and Modesto. More than 12,000 news staff have lost their jobs in California in the past few decades. AB 2222 on @GavinNewsom desk can help.
Including it seems, most -- if not all -- of the SacBee opinion team. RIGHT BEFORE AN ELECTION!
Dark times for California journalism today. All the more reason @GavinNewsom must sign AB 2222 by @Rebuild_News. It offers refundable tax credits to employers of human journalists
@ByRobinEpley I am so very sorry to hear that. Thank you for helping keep the community informed. The Bee plays an invaluable role for Sacramento. Seeing it hollowed out is devastating. There is a bill on Newsom's desk to provide tax credits for local journalism; I wish McClatchy had waited.
@PalmerLuckey@palmerluckey - how big a deal is this? Does this mean Iran (or China) can now easily reverse engineer the sub? Or are there safeguards built-in preventing useful capture in some way?
@TheFIREorg@FreeSpeech_AI@nypost Would FIRE support some type of disclosure on the ad that this is AI? The problem is not the content of the speech but that it is so realistic that people may be misled, which seems especially dangerous in the political arena.

@devinlavelle Really?? Hm, I know a lot of people have been adding home offices in their backyard, but I don't think these meet the definition of an ADUs as they are not connected to water or sewage.

@MattGrossmann Is there any analysis of whether Seattle's model is different? If small donors approach 10% of the electorate, they may be more representative of the overall electorate than when small donors are coming from under 1%>.
