@MarindaOnline I had one last winter that had over 2600 edits, and that didn’t include the 14 pages of endnotes.
I told the PE (early on) I was charging a CE rate.
Hi #Edibuddies! #AmEditing and looking for general guidance/resources on capitalization for Native terminology for a novel. Any tips or resources you know of? TIA!
(https://t.co/whrumHCBUZ) doesn't answer what I'm looking for, just for reference
@ayesha_chari @LauraBontje @EditorsCanada @LauraBontje As a new parent, this was such a relief to read. Solidarity, comfort in knowing it CAN be done (albeit with effort and LOTS of support) is so precious. Thank you.
WHY HAVE A TV WRITER ON SET?
Since they already wrote the script (and rewrote it 8 times, and tweaked it after the table read)?
Glad you asked, here's a thread.
On my last week of maternity leave, and holy smokes that went by fast!
I’m excited to jump back in to editing next week, so #WritingCommmunity, hmu if you’re looking for an editor for your memoir or MG fiction!
@mschristinema@manda_editor I do self-notes, too! Especially for inconsistencies so they’re easy to find during subsequent passes. I use my initials to tag the notes since “NH” isn’t a common letter combo in English: “wasn’t he blond? NH” “when did she pick this item up? NH”
@manda_editor For copyediting, no. Like you said, it gives the closest reader experience, so if I’m confused on the first read, someone else will be, too. Reading it a second or third time, I’ll have a bias to understand something since I know what will happen later.
Many people are leaving Christianity.
Not because they find the core beliefs too outlandish or the ethical demands too arduous.
They're leaving because the Christians they know and churches they've attended are so lacking in Christlikeness, especially toward LGBTQ+ folks.
The thing about self-pubbing is you not only have to be an author, you also have to be your own Production Editor- not an easy feat if you’ve never done it!
Self pub is anything but *just *.
Yesterday’s sad querying tweet has reached the “just self-pub it” crowd, so evergreen reminder that self pub is actually a lot of work and isn’t a good fit for everyone 😘
Most authors have no clue how to edit, or design a quality book cover, or maneuver printing terminology (paper quality is noted by its weight, for example; if you’re posing for a hard back, probably go with sewn vs glued pages), or manage distribution.
