7th graders learned elements of art, composition, and a variety of paint brush strokes along with the solar system and space exploration in this #artsintegrated science unit. @NASA images helped us make a canvas painting of our own. #cosmicart#STEAM@TomahawkCreekMS@PIAURSPCS
My students had a great time planting our @TomahawkCreekMS school garden for #EarthDay2023 The master gardeners from the #chesterfield cooperative extension are awesome!! Thank you 🥰❤️🌱
Thank you Jeff and Janet Crouch!!! Supporting native species is so much more important than a manicured lawn. Changing laws and losing lawns! @smerconish
Dissections raise the bar for our Ss. #Squid for the win in life science! 🦑 The feedback was great: “I liked how we got to wear lab equipment because I felt like a real scientist,” “I loved working with my partner!” #handsonlearning#SEL@TomahawkCreekMS#scitlap@scienceCCPS
I am excited to share that an article I wrote has been published in the 2022 @VASCD Journal! Check out my article on Integrating Art with #SEL for MS Science Success! @ccpsinfo @scienceCCPS@TomahawkCreekMS 2022 VASCD Journal (Volume 19) https://t.co/Em1QornjUh via @issuu
@karenvaites @ClassroomWonder @achievethecore @MJLiben Thank you so much! This is very helpful and I will share with my ELA dept and principal. My school is currently working to roll out a remediation plan based on “reading articles.” Love the prospect of deepening this into a knowledge building remediation model!
I’m a 7th grade science teacher looking to support structured #literacy and the #scienceofreading. How can I do it?? Where do I start with my students?! I currently do novel studies that fit our units. 📖 #edchat#scichat @ClassroomWonder
@s_tufts2 @ClassroomWonder I feel silly asking, but by scaffold do you mean not providing an alternate text on a lower reading level? I do feel strongly that students need exposure to grade level text and support to grapple with science academic language.
@JosephSokolovi1 @ClassroomWonder This would be ideal!! I do share my suggestions. Unfortunately ELA dept choices are not within my control and I want to do all I can for the kids I teach now. ❤️
Tomahawk Creek Middle science & Spanish classes raised monarch butterflies as part of a cross-curricular conservation project. They released the butterflies during an event that celebrated butterflies and Hispanic heritage: https://t.co/7pceBCDk8G #oneCCPS@TomahawkCreekMS
So excited to see this project come to life!! It was an awesome experience raising these #butterflies and I was so excited to share this experience with our foreign lang dept for #HispanicHeritageMonth. @TomahawkCreekMS https://t.co/NIokSfDpyu
Our Environmental Stewardship Awareness Committee Members didn’t let the lack of a babysitter hold them back. They brought the kids with and other members pitched in to help watch! Love our Committees and the staff that support them! #bettertogether@JoshDavisCOO
