I think China's second DeepSeek moment is here.
This AI agent called 'Manus' is going crazy viral in China right now.
Probably only a matter of time until it hits the US.
It's like Deep Research + Operator + Claude Computer combined, and it's REALLY good.
I disagree. The money they have earned is the testimony and recognition enough for the fine job they did - no doubts there. But the way they shaped our future resulted in brain drain as none of the bright minds wish to work in India. Where would you have liked to work if you passed out of IIT ? That's right - not in India - because in spite of having some of the largest service companies in India, our leaders never focussed much on R&D. India is one of the least spending nations on R&D and we can't blame the government alone for it. While US is one of the largest spenders in technology R&D, half of that fund comes from private sector - from software giants. I mean I cannot imagine why they shunned R&D in the technology space when all the research papers were open sourced and when India saw the gains of R&D in the space exploration domain.
So I did not pick on them - they literally painted the target on their back by doing nothing for the next generation and still go walking around giving useless speeches.
Sad to see uninformed industry leaders in India still doubting the capability of AI. No wonder India never came up with a single model inspite of hosting a Silicon Valley and several IT parks. Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani says AI can't replace humans https://t.co/vpQ1aEDpfj via @timesofindia
DeepSeek boast a whopping 545% profit margin, attributing it to their 3FS storage and V3/R1 inference system. Hell bent on making another trillion dollars disappear from US markets
I believe it's not. Emotional intelligence is nothing but managing your emotions effectively. AI is aware about emotions, just not in the same way we do. For e.g. it already understands when you are happy or sad or angry and it can engage appropriately. But it doesn't experience sadness or happiness in the way we do - like getting a high or feeling low or being in a good mood etc. However the reward based reinforcement learning is the closest we have got to mimicking this in machines. Imagine this scenario - it's the marriage anniversary and your wife expects gifts. You forget but the AI remembers and buys a gift on your behalf. Not only does it do that, it has also remembered to send invitations to your as well as wife's friends who would bring gifts and has also got in touch with an event planner to arrange a small party at a nearby hotel. You can still claim it's not emotional in a true sense but I would like to compare it to what we call duck typing in the programming world.
"If it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, then it must be a duck"
However this is not the only reason I am in disagreement with Mr. Nandan. Being an industry leader in software domain, young minds and entrepreneurs look upto these guys. Instead of asking to invest time in AI research and use, he sort of undermines it. No wonder in spite of having the 3rd largest IT workforce on the planet, we have still not managed to come up with our AI model. Thanks to guys like these at helm.
🚨 Grok 3 is taking the internet by storm! 🔥
People are pushing it to the limits, and the results are INSANE.
Here are 16 mind-blowing ways it's being used (you won’t believe #4): 👇
We RL'ed humanoid robots to Cristiano Ronaldo, LeBron James, and Kobe Byrant! These are neural nets running on real hardware at our GEAR lab. Most robot demos you see online speed videos up. We actually *slow them down* so you can enjoy the fluid motions.
I'm excited to announce "ASAP", a "real2sim2real" model that masters extremely smooth and dynamic motions for humanoid whole body control.
We pretrain the robot in simulation first, but there is a notorious "sim2real" gap: it's very difficult for hand-engineered physics equations to match real world dynamics.
Our fix is simple: just deploy a pretrained policy on real hardware, collect data, and replay the motion in sim. The replay will obviously have many errors, but that gives a rich signal to compensate for the physics discrepancy. Use another neural net to learn the delta. Basically, we "patch up" a traditional physics engine, so that the robot can experience almost the real world at scale in GPUs.
The future is hybrid simulation: combine the power of classical sim engines refined over decades and the uncanny ability of modern NNs to capture a messy world.
perplexity ai vouches for transparent journalism: open sources their version of post-trained DeepSeek R1 model for unbiased, uncensored, factual content. Good stuff.
🚀 Day 0: Warming up for #OpenSourceWeek!
We're a tiny team @deepseek_ai exploring AGI. Starting next week, we'll be open-sourcing 5 repos, sharing our small but sincere progress with full transparency.
These humble building blocks in our online service have been documented, deployed and battle-tested in production.
As part of the open-source community, we believe that every line shared becomes collective momentum that accelerates the journey.
Daily unlocks are coming soon. No ivory towers - just pure garage-energy and community-driven innovation.

⚡ Simulation with o3-mini high!
Ever since I was 9 and messing around with BASIC on my MSX, I’ve loved any kind of visual simulation.
Now, with o3, we have the power to create anything that comes to mind with just a couple of prompts. It’s mind blowing 🤯
The prompt was: "I’d like to make a JS simulation of a sphere made up of ASCII numbers, rotating. The closest numbers should be pure white, and the farthest ones should fade to gray, on a black background."
After just a few interactions, this is the result. What a time to be alive!
Grok3 testing
Verified this prompt works
I have the sphere cycling the numbers like a 3D combination lock
That is an impressive first test. Great prompt idea, thanks AK
