A stunning photograph of Corfe Castle, Dorset, taken in 1927. The area has been inhabited since prehistoric times and later farmed by the Celtic Durotriges tribe. King Edward the Martyr was murdered here on 18th March 978.

The village grew around the medieval castle as workers, traders, craftsmen, inns and other services settled there permanently 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

A quiet week on the Sun as a cluster of active regions move across the Sun’s disk and around the limb. As of Friday, Sept. 18, there are no active regions on the Earth-facing side of the Sun.

The dark “strips” across the Sun that emerge towards the end of the video are coronal holes. These cooler bands of solar material on the Sun (which make them appear darker) are where the Sun’s magnetic field lines open up to space, allowing high-speed solar wind to escape.

There are plenty of tiny ducklings waddling around the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital at the moment! 🐥

While many of our ducklings have hatched here at the Hospital, this little group was brought in after being found orphaned. They’re now having their first health checks with our team before heading off to dedicated wildlife carers, where they can grow, learn and develop before returning to the wild. 🥰

We’re certainly not short on cuteness around here! 💛
