BIG VICTORY - LANDMARK JUDGEMENT IN FIGHT AGAINST CONVERSIONS

Five people have been convicted and sentenced to 5 years in jail for driving Linesh Sahu to suicide by forcing him to convert to Christianity

Convicts:
Linesh's father-in-law Rajkumar
mother-in-law Gauri
wife Karuna
sisters-in-law Kiran and Kanishka

Nilesh, a Hindu, married under Hindu customs - little knowing his wife and in-laws were crypto-converts

[Swati Goel Sharma @swati_gs]

Real name - Mohammed Salman
On Aadhar card - Pappu

Real name of father - Noor Mohammed
On Aadhar card - Nooru

This is a scam

Salman alias Pappu trapped a woman into a false love web to exploit, forcibly convert, blackmail-loot her - in yet another case of the same pattern

@sewanyaya is helping her pursue justice. @DeepakMalik_1 is executing it

Phenomenon of crypto-Christians - people who outwardly maintain Hindu/Buddhist/Sikh identity while practising another - is tearing apart families and destroying lives

Distressed husband and wives have committed suicide over pressures to convert by their crypto-convert spouse and their families. Read about Linesh Sahu from Jharkhand, Manja Devi from Bharatpur, Rutuja Rajge from Sangli

Take this latest case from Muzaffarnagar: a Hindu man married a woman from same community through Hindu rituals, only to discover that she and her family were under influence of Pentecostal groups and had developed hatred towards Hindu customs and symbols

Our ground-level awareness program led by @Ajayyadav_610 has reached numerous bastis and villages to educate vulnerable families about this. We will root out this phenomenon

Escalating this case to higher authorities. Do not ignore such cases if happening in your vicinity. Report directly to authorities or write to us

A 14-year-old girl enrolled in Class 8 at a private school in Delhi was contacted by a 23-year-old man on Instagram

Within a month, she left home to live with him in Gujarat

In true filmy style, he put sindoor in her hair and phoolmala around her neck in a small village temple just in front of a Ganesh murti and declared they are married

He then made sexual relations with his “wife”

His parents did not know about this as the man lives away from family for work

In Delhi, with @BhaiPreetSingh’s legal team, we helped the girl’s father file a habeas corpus petition

After court order, police traced her and brought her back recently on 13 September - three weeks after she had left

Much to her parents’ relief, she is not pregnant. The girl has agreed to leave the man and pursue school

Such cases are rising. And citing such cases, Indira Jaisingh told the Supreme Court in a POCSO-related matter that age of consent for girls should be lowered so that adult men are not prosecuted for such “consensual” relationships

Imagine the scale of schoolgirls being lured and exploited if age of consent is indeed lowered

This is why our team - @sewanyaya and partner @NetworkforJus - have filed our own interventions against this proposal, and enabled a dozen other interventions - one of them from a woman who was trafficked to brothel after being lured in a love trap

To read more about our program to prevent lowering of age of consent, visit: https://t.co/R8VeU22RxL

Lowering age of consent must be collectively opposed
