more and more government staff now grow up on this path, university campus -> government compound. they have no real social experience in between. so in their mind, food just somehow becomes ready in the canteen when its meal time, and food prices are also very cheap, like 5 or 10 yuan. if u ask them how many days 100 yuan can last, they will tell u, if food is 20 yuan a day, then 100 yuan can last 5 days
the weaker a person is, the more they insist on proving they are right; the stronger a person is, the less they care about winning or losing in the moment. because weaker people lack ability, resources and certainty, they can only confirm their own value by controlling others and fighting over who is right or wrong; stronger people focus more on the best overall result, and dont mind backing down, admitting mistakes or making compromises for a while, because what really matters is how resources are used, how relationships work together, and how the results can get better. this applies to family, marriage and cooperation. real maturity doesnt mean a person no longer has principles, it means they no longer waste energy proving themselves: give way on small things, hold the line on important things, and save their limited attention for things that can really change the result
logic is not only something philosophers study, and it is not only a skill needed in debates
it is a basic life skill
at the core, logic can help you answer one simple question:
does this conclusion really follow from this evidence?
many people actually have problems with logic, but they do not realize it
they see one example, then treat it like a general rule
they see a good result, then think the original decision must be correct
they do not like someone, so they think everything that person says is wrong
they like someone, so even when that person clearly makes a mistake, they still keep finding reasons for them
when someone disagrees with them, they attack the person, not the argument
they say, everyone thinks like this, like if most people agree then it means there is proof
they say, i saw it myself, like one personal experience is enough to beat wider evidence
when something goes wrong, they first look for someone to blame, instead of asking what actually caused the problem
when their prediction turns out to be wrong, they keep changing the explanation, instead of admitting their reasoning was wrong
these are not just communication problems
this is failure of reasoning
you do not need to finish a whole logic textbook to improve your logical thinking
just start with a few habits:
ask yourself: what is the evidence?
separate facts from interpretation
do not make a general conclusion from one example
do not treat a good result as the same thing as a good decision
criticize the argument, not the person
be careful with absolute words like always, everyone, never, and obviously
ask yourself if there is another possible explanation
most importantly, ask yourself:
what kind of evidence would make me change my mind?
this question matters, because logical thinking does not mean you must always be right
it means when the evidence changes, you are willing to correct yourself
the value of logic is not helping you win arguments
it helps you avoid bad decisions, manipulation, emotional thinking, and false certainty
a person really starts thinking more logically when they learn to say this:
before making a conclusion, what exactly supports this conclusion?
One of the greatest viruses of the modern man is looking at Instagram Stories. You will melt your brain looking at a barrage of outcomes—like vacations, parties, cars—with no visibility of the process that got them there.
