@zomatocare@zomato Update: my ₹1,588 refund was finally initiated, by @zomatocare's Twitter team, 39 hours after in-app support told me it was "already initiated."
In-app support is still unreachable.
Still unanswered: why refuse it first, and the child. @zomato
My @zomato order at 11:49 PM: improper food handling, gripped between the rider's feet, handed over by a child who should've been asleep. 🦶👦🌙
Support: "not acceptable at all." Refund? Denied.
Paid for food. Going to bed hungry. Again.
@zomatocare@fssaiindia@NCPCR_
@zomatocare 18h and still no response @zomatocare neither for services not rendered after pre charging and neithe about mid night delivery by a child or about the 2 customer care executive asking me to eat unhygienic food. What good are you @zomato if you cannot even deliver food!
@zomato delivered my food in 30 minutes. It's been 24 hours and my refund still hasn't found my address. Maybe it needs a delivery partner too? @zomatocare
Things @zomato has told me in 33 hours:
• "Refund not possible"
• "Refund initiated"
• "We take feedbacks seriously" (about a child delivering food at midnight)
• "Resolution within 24 hours"
Things it has done: nothing.
@zomatocare@jagograhakjago
@zomato@zomatocare@fssaiindia@NCPCR_ Update: @zomato promised in writing a refund "within 24 hours." That deadline passed at 1:49 AM.
No refund. No reference number. No reply to email or DM.
The next chat closed within a minute: "resolution within 24 hours."
@zomatocare
@zomato@zomatocare@fssaiindia@NCPCR_ Update: after ~2 hours with support, Zomato says a refund was "initiated." Nothing visible on the order page yet.
The child? Logged as "feedback." So I reported it to the Ministry of Labour via PENCIL. Complaint COMP/2026/05525.

Order 1: refund refused — you didn't write the instruction.
Order 2: wrote it. Refused anyway. On a recorded call they said the food is premade at a central location and can't be changed.
So why is it listed as "customisable"?

@zomatocare Four orders. Four failures. And a support system with less memory than a chatbot from 2015. Let me show you the pattern.
Orders #8433306117 + #8418306597 — the calzone saga:
First order: calzone arrived charred beyond eating. Blackened through, carbonized inside. Photos exist.
The restaurant, to their credit, did the right thing — prepared a fresh replacement and sent it with my next order.
Then your rider picked up that delivery with NO delivery bag, and kept the food on his scooter's footrest — under his shoes — for the entire ride. I have it on CCTV.
The kitchen fixed its mistake. Your logistics network stepped on the fix. Literally.
When questioned, the rider said he's "a new rider."
Your own app: 4k+ orders delivered, 4.7 rating.
He lied. Your platform's own data proves it.
And when I reported it? Your bot said food-under-shoes "may not be related to delivery partner misbehaviour" and rerouted me to a spillage form. Your executive then demanded fresh photos of "spillage" — for a complaint I never made.
Your app only accepts live camera photos. No gallery. No video. The rider doesn't wait outside to re-enact the violation for my camera. So the CCTV footage is in your DMs right now. No more "couldn't validate the issue."
Order #8423012600:
I wrote "no onion" in your instruction box (GERD — raw onion is a medical trigger, not a preference). The food is pre-assembled at a central kitchen and can never be modified. Asked to swap the item — refused. Asked Zomato to cancel BEFORE preparation — refused. No refund.
So why does your platform list it as "customisable" with an instruction field?
Order #8291340195 (ProNutriZone):
No onion in the photos, none in the description. Arrived loaded with raw onion. Refund refused because I didn't write instructions.
Write instructions: refused anyway.
Don't write instructions: refused because you didn't.
Food under a rider's shoes: "not misbehaviour."
Burnt calzone's replacement: also under the shoes.
Every support contact starts from zero. New agent, no context, wrong form, template rejection. I've explained the same facts more times than your system has retained them.
I paid in full every time. I went hungry twice. CCTV, photos, chat logs, invoices, recorded calls — all preserved and already in your DMs.
Refund #8418306597, #8433306117 (calzone), and #8423012600. Fix the listings. Log the rider incident. Respond to the evidence in your inbox — or the consumer forum receives the complete file. Your move
@zomatocare Order #8423012600. I need someone senior to read this, because your support process has failed twice in a row on the same issue.
I have GERD, managed with prescription medication. Raw onion is a known trigger. So here's what I did on this order:
✅ Wrote "no onion" in your instruction field on the order page
✅ Called the restaurant directly after ordering
✅ Asked for a swap to any item I could safely eat
✅ Asked Zomato to cancel BEFORE the order was even prepared
Every single one refused. The restaurant told me on a recorded call their sandwiches are pre-assembled at a central kitchen and cannot be modified. Ever.
Then why is the item listed as "customisable" with an instruction box?
And here's the part that should embarrass someone: on my previous order (#8291340195), your team refused the refund because I hadn't written instructions. This time I did write them — refused anyway. So instructions are mandatory when I skip them and meaningless when I use them. Which is it?
Neither listing discloses onion anywhere — not in the description, not in the photos. A customer cannot instruct against an ingredient you never told them exists.
I paid in full. I went hungry. Twice.
Under the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules 2020, you're responsible for the accuracy of listings on your platform. "We're just an intermediary" doesn't cover selling a fake customisation feature.
Refund #8423012600. Fix the listings. I have every screenshot, invoice, and call record ready — for you, or for the consumer forum. Your choice.
