You have no idea how excited I was when the team rolled this feature into beta earlier this year. We finally managed to roll out the first ever mobile contactless feature in Indonesia! And I hope we become the catalyst for the nation to continue adopting true seamlesss payments.
If you're traveling at night, there really are no reasons to book this fare other than the toilet or the free meals, which you'd be better off spending on the Priority or Luxury/Sleeper class instead - there isn't too much to see at night in rural areas!
And that was it, the Taksaka and Panoramic car made it to Gambir with a 20 minute time penalty, but we got here safely with no further incidents. Would definitely try again next time I have the chance to take it!
Taksaka Tambahan 7025PC halted to an emergency stop after smoke was detected on the panoramic car. Technicians were onboard and were quick to be on the job and troubleshoot. Seems like the brakes got a little faulty.
The meal car on this (admittedly extra) Taksaka service leaves a lot to be desired, but it is dated to 1968. A very old relic of the railways, still in active service! Picked up my train fried rice though, even if my ticket comes with freeflow drinks, snack pack, and meal.
I absolutely, absolutely LOVE that the panoramic trains are serving as an exemplar for having proper luggage racks by the doors. Overhead storage on trains are great but not so much when you bring bulkier items than a backpack.
The seats are generally the exact same ones as the executive class trains, with tray tables and power points (this time it's on the footrest instead of the side), so you will really only ride this train if you barely do, want unobstructed views, or something new to try out.
You have to at least appreciate, if nothing else, the toilets onboard this train. Finally one MONUMENTAL upgrade, far ahead of even the sleeper trains. This is a fantastic upgrade I want to see rolled out on all intercity express trains. #keretaapikita
