Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has been an Oiler for 11 years. He’s been through more shit in Edmonton than any player I can think of. He never asked out once. Him smiling at Oilers fans, chanting to him during his media availability last night, is all I need to see. I’m so happy for him.
Yesterday I saw an emergency goalie—blind in one eye—get to live his dream, another goalie sing the anthem in Buffalo, and a little boy with cancer given his own hockey card by the best player in the world. Yesterday was a good day.
