My daughter is flying to San Francisco tomorrow night via Singapore in @SingaporeAir .
The original flight was supposed to be 23:10 on 17th August, 2024 (Saturday) with a 1.5 hour layover in Singapore. The flight got delayed by 2 hours the day of the flight, which would cause her to miss her connecting flight to SFO. We called up Singapore Airlines immediately and asked to be rebooked either 1,2 or 3 days after the original flight. We were extremely flexible about the time and dates. After hours on the phone and picking tickets, we said yes to any of the flights offered by the helpline person, but as she was checking out the seats, she said that those seats were booked while she was going through the process. She was helpful but this happened with 2-3 tickets. At the end, we were forced to select a flight TWO days after the original flight, but instead with a 12 HOUR layover at Singapore airport, as opposed to the original 1.5 hour. Adding on, she said that there were no seats available for the second flight and that she would have to approach the airport counter for help. They gave us no lounge access, no transit hotel, no upgrade or any other accommodation despite all this. The lack of seat availability caused a lot of stress, and this new flight would cause her to land at 8pm in San Francisco as opposed to the original 10am. These are the safety concerns. We called up Singapore airlines in the evening of 18th August, and asked if there were earlier flights to cut down on the 12 hour layover, and asked if they could book me in my original flight with the 1.5 hour layover. Ironically, seats are readily available for fresh bookings, but not for passengers who are being rescheduled coz of airlines delays. Clearly the airline is merely interested in filling seats, but least interested in safety and comfort of passengers. The overall experience was absolutely exhausting and unhelpful, she is now reaching three full days later, travelling for over 50 hours and reaching late night. Asking for some help @SingaporeAir

My daughter is flying tomorrow evening IST & It’s really concerning that she’s going to be stranded at @ChangiAirport for 12 hours. Further, she will reach SFO later evening and she has an hour long journey from there to reach her campus. For a student who’s returning for a fresh quarter, this is extremely exhausting & unsafe. I fail to understand that if a fresh passenger can get a seat, why can’t a passenger who has been rescheduled by you can’t? This is really very unfair.
