Breaking: Eagles are signing two-time Pro-Bowl selection Jalen Carter to a four-year, $152 million extension worth up to $160 million, including $106 million guaranteed that now makes him the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history, per his agents Drew and Jason Rosenhaus.

An NBA player successfully concealed his true identity, knocking three years off his age and managing to fool the league for more than a decade.

Ersan İlyasova spent more than a decade in the NBA, but one of basketball’s most enduring theories claims he wasn’t actually who he said he was.

According to the claim, an 18-year-old Uzbekistani named Arsen Ilyasov crossed into Turkey in 2002 and then disappeared from official records. Just six weeks later, a man reportedly appeared at a Turkish registry office and claimed he had never registered the birth of his 15-year-old son, who was then officially recorded as Ersan İlyasova.

The Uzbekistan Basketball Federation later filed a complaint with FIBA, alleging that Arsen Ilyasov and Ersan İlyasova were the same person and that his age had been reduced by three years to let him compete against younger players.

FIBA investigated the allegations but ultimately ruled in Turkey’s favor, officially recognizing İlyasova’s identity and birth date. That decision cleared him to represent the Turkish national team and eventually build a lengthy NBA career.

Despite the official ruling, the theory has never completely disappeared and remains one of the most debated identity mysteries in basketball history.
