PSA: Potential Bitcoin PoW change Sunday. SHA2 miners should stop mining Saturday.
- @BitcoinKnots 29.4.1rc4 will be released tomorrow, setup for mainnet rehearsal. This locks-in the final SHA2 block.
- After NYPost updates their Sunday morning print online, I'll post the canonical blake2b_headline parameter.
- If things go perfectly, Knots 29.4.1 final will be released Sep 1 on schedule, keeping the Aug 30 blockchain.
- If there's any issues (unlikely at this point), we address them and reset to the last SHA2 block for rc5.
If you intend to mine from day 1, I recommend getting setup with testnet4 (rc3) _now_ so you're ready for mainnet on Sunday.
The point of Bitcoin:
1. Fixed supply
2. Can be owned without third party permission
3. Can be moved without third party permission
That's it.
If it's centralized, neither of those things apply.
@saylor's "reformation" and "shedding of iatrogenic orthodoxy" is simply "Bitcoiners need to stop caring about decentralization".
That makes his vision baseless. Bitcoin without the accompanying principles has no meaning or purpose.
“Will disable the tx filtering patch for now, until the community reaches a more comprehensive consensus on this topic.”
@satofishi is head of @f2pool mining… one of only three pools that mine the majority of Bitcoin’s blocks.
1/4 @LukeDashjr just opened a draft PR on Bitcoin Knots: Hardfork to a new BLAKE2b proof-of-work algorithm.
This is not vaporware. It’s concrete engineering. https://t.co/FBR6jeBZ8J
@bourbonni@moon33_blue You don't need to have the most PoW—that’s a mantra of the BCashers, which is why BCash has more PoW and a longer chain than BTC.
In Bitcoin, you need to have the most *HONEST* PoW and BPedo's 6 pools aren't that; so read the WP and run #BIP110—if you even have any sats, that is.
@knutsvanholm Even though numerous forks occurred in the past, in this instance, the PoW update is simply Bitcoin's immune response to centralization and corporate capture kicking in. The legacy chain is the one forking off.
@SimonDixonTwitt It is the legacy chain that forked itself off. Bitcoin continues with a new PoW update and bug fixes that were long overdue. Nature is healing, tick tock next block.
Bitcoin has been captured since 2017.
-BIP-148 activation was just theater from the miners.
-Core was compromised by various "Big Bitcoin" companies.
-BIP-110 was lobbied against, and miners were used against us.
-This is not Bitcoin anymore.
-PoW change has to be done.
