Today, Mahoro Peace Association(MPA) submitted an urgent appeal letter to UNHCR regarding grave violations of refugee rights affecting #Banyamulenge refugees in #Burundi.

The irony is stark: Banyamulenge seek refuge in Burundi, yet the Burundian government orchestrates a slow-motion #genocide against Banyamulenge communities on their own land(south-Kivu).

Brigadier General Gaspard Baratuza, spokesperson of the Burundian forces, confirmed on @bbcgahuza, the existence of the blockade/Siege and openly declared the intent to let Banyamulenge civilians starve by denying them food, medicine, and other basic humanitarian needs.

Adding to this misery, the DRC government today deployed military drones targeting Banyamulenge villages in #Mikenke, escalating the threat to civilian lives.

We call for immediate investigation, protection, and accountability to uphold international refugee law and human dignity.
