Happy 63rd birthday to the legendary John Powell! 🎉

Some composers become recognizable through a single melody. John Powell built his reputation by giving completely different worlds their own musical pulse.

His soaring themes turned How to Train Your Dragon into something genuinely majestic, the propulsive rhythms of The Bourne Identity helped reshape the sound of modern action films, and his animation work brought enormous personality to everything from Shrek and Kung Fu Panda to Rio and Ice Age. Along the way, he even entered a galaxy far, far away with Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Some of his most notable film scores include:
How to Train Your Dragon
The Bourne Identity
Kung Fu Panda
Shrek
Solo: A Star Wars Story
Wicked
Chicken Run
X-Men: The Last Stand
Rio
Ice Age: The Meltdown
and many more!

From the first flight over Berk to Bourne racing through another pursuit, his music has supplied the emotion, momentum, and sense of adventure behind some of the most memorable movie moments of the past three decades. 🎂🎼
