ELI5: What is RELICS?
Most NFT art is finished the moment it is minted.
A Relic is born once, but it is never really finished.
There are two separate parts to the system:
• 10,000 ethereum:0x8f294a99a0609822c233b24867f331c292ce2da9 — the liquid market layer
• 10,000 Relics — the artifact layer
They are not ERC404s. Buying or selling the token does not automatically mint, burn or transfer an NFT.
Instead, the entire collection is connected through a native @Uniswap v4 Hook.
Think of the Hook as the civilization’s black box recorder.
It watches the canonical $RELICS pool and records what actually happens:
→ every swap
→ buy and sell volume
→ liquidity added
→ volatility
→ price drawdowns
→ recoveries
→ market stress
→ changing market epochs
The $RELICS token contract separately tracks how many real active holders exist.
Every NFT then combines four things:
Immutable DNA
- Its species, geometry, palette, energy, temperament and other core traits are created when it is minted and can never be changed.
Immutable market history
- The Hook keeps building a permanent record of what the market has survived.
Holder growth
- As the number of active $RELICS holders changes, the civilization becomes more populated and the art reacts.
Its own history
- When a Relic is transferred or evolved, it accumulates scars, resonance, lineage and historical checkpoints unique to that token.
The renderer combines all of this every time the NFT is viewed:
immutable DNA
live market state
active holder count
the Relic’s own history
= the current form of that Relic
So a drawdown can fracture the art.
Volatility can break its symmetry.
Liquidity can stabilize its structure.
Holder growth can add civilization marks.
Recovery can repair old wounds with light without erasing the scars.
Different Relics also react differently. A Sacred Shard does not process market history the same way as an Abyssal Idol, Ritual Machine, Living Archive, Buried Monolith or Containment Core.
And none of this depends on IPFS, an image server or somebody manually replacing the artwork.
The DNA, market memory, metadata and SVG renderer all live on @Ethereum
The simplest way to understand RELICS:
The market is not attached to the art.
The market is the material the art is made from.
