On a recent podcast, Lil Wayne was asked Drake or Kendrick Lamar. He replied:
“If we’re talking awards, it’s Drake. But if we’re talkin’ bout hits, numbers, versatility, stadiums, longevity, and global impact? it’s still Drake. That’s my lil bro. Period.”
DJ Whoo Kid reflects on the Drake & Kendrick Lamar beef, saying Kendrick had his moment but hip-hop has been suffering commercially without Drake:
"Kendrick had his moment. You know, 6 months, he's the man. Super Bowl, he's the man. But the thing about Drake, he uses patience as a way of, like, getting back. And, as you can see, where has hip-hop been? There's no Billboard charts, there's nothing."
"I'm not an expert in this, but I know when he's here, we're on the charts."
