Don't expect Ursula to condemn Saudi bombing of Sana'a airport in July that started this whole round of fighting - or condemn the US-backed Saudi slaughter via forced-starvation of hundreds of thousands of Yemeni from 2015-22. The only principle is Empire. https://t.co/lRnx14D7ad
He was 27 and she was FIFTEEN YOU FUCKING GHOULS. Calling her his “young lover” should be a fireable offense and I hope her family sues the whole goddamn network.
Nakba survivors cannot return to Palestine, because they are Palestinians, but Ivanka Trump and Sydney Sweeney can become settlers because a rabbi signed a piece of paper. But this is not racism
NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani's office rejected calls from congressional nominee Darializa Avila Chevalier and other allies for Zionist NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch to step down, with a City Hall spokesperson telling Politico: “Jessica Tisch is the Police Commissioner and there are no plans to change that.”
■ The calls for Tisch's removal escalated after an ICE agent shot and wounded a Dominican man in his car on Thursday while his 5-year-old son was in the back seat. Avila Chevalier wrote on X that the NYPD “spent more time protecting a militia that just shot someone than protecting New Yorkers.”
■ Another 17 democratic socialist elected officials and nominees signed a letter stating Tisch "must end police assistance for ICE operations and disband NYPD's Strategic Response Group — and if she won't, she must be fired." The NYC-DSA wrote that Tisch "must get ICE out of New York and end NYPD complicity with these terrorists."
■ Tisch is a self-described "proud Zionist" from the billionaire Tisch family. Her father, James Tisch, is CEO of Loews Corporation, and the family has been active in the NYC Police Foundation, which funds the NYPD's liaison program with foreign police forces, including the Israeli occupation.
■ In the modern history of New York City, since the single-commissioner model was established in 1901, no incoming mayor had ever kept an immediate predecessor's police commissioner prior to Mamdani's decision to retain Tisch.
This is actually true. Because Elie Wiesel was an abhorrent racist, who dedicated his life to making sure that "Never Again" would only apply to Jewish people. Elie Wiesel's work is antithetical to that of Navi Pillay, who actually took "Never Again" seriously
If you ever think something is beyond the scope of human depravity just search for it with “IDF” or “Israel” and you will find it has already happened.
they’re running the same play on the free palestine movement that they ran on BLM. liberals infiltrate these movements, shout down the radical aspects of them and water down the demands into nothing. in a few years they’ll be talking about how “man free palestine was crazy 🤪”
Members of the U.S. Congress are now threatening to subpoena individual journalists in their frenzy to prove that the widespread unpopularity of U.S. wars and economic problems at home are caused by China instead of their own stupidity
When will people understand that non-violent resistance doesn't work against people who have no qualms whatsoever to use violence because they know they will get away with it?
If someone were to say we must mourn members of the Nazi Party who lost their lives alongside the victims of the Holocaust they’d be rightfully derided. But for Palestinians, they cannot have a moment in which their lives are not tied to their colonizers, even in death.
Speaking of dehumanization and double standards, is there a reason NYT editorially calls Israeli captives, including IDF soldiers, “hostages,” and Palestinians locked in cages without trial (or kangaroo trails) “detainees”? Rather than using the more neutral “captives” for both?
Really? The ICRC has a distinct legal definition that classifies Israeli solders taken prisoner as “hostages” and Palestinian civilians taken prisoner as “detainees”?
“This [the Brazilian elections] is about power in the Americas. This is what it’s really about. (…) Rubio doesn’t want a Brazil to really be an independent country. He wants a government that’s going to back him on all his armed actions, like Flavio does (…). They’re really aggressive in their interventions. And they want to destroy the independence that a lot of countries won in the 21st century really for the first time.”
@MarkWeisbrot
ICE agent shot a guy in his car in the Bronx today (with his kid in the backseat). That guy is now in the hospital under ICE custody. Mamdani has now deployed the police unit he once promised to disband to suppress the protest at the hospital
