#RTfab4 A5: Revisit familar text or review text w/graphic organizer, predict, set purpose for reading, read text using clarifying and questioning, after reading have students summarize
#RTfab4 A3: Student reads a portion of text, coach student on strategy that fits naturally w/ student and text, model, guide w/prompts and ask to check learning
#rtfab4 A4: All kinds of text will work. I like to start with easy-to-read, high-interest materials to model with. I then move to chapter-books and content area text because they have natural workable chunks.
#rtfab4 A3: The fab 4 gestures will help students understand and use the RT strategies because they are a kinesthetic hook. I did not use them last year, but think I will give them a try this year.
#rtfab4 A2: Read-alouds, shared reading, 4 door chart, fab 4 characters and props and mentor texts are a few ways to intoduce RT. Read louds are most appealing to me because I can model the fab 4 with a think aloud.
