San Francisco was a model of Democratic governance gone wrong, but under a new mayor, it seems to have turned a corner, writes German Lopez. “The transformation is in its early stages, but what I saw in San Francisco was promising.” https://t.co/DbH1BFXVOQ
People ask me all the time, “Can a Democrat win in Oklahoma?” The answer is YES. Because Oklahoma is not a red state, it’s a gerrymandered state.
Just two governors ago, we had a Democratic governor and a more balanced legislature. Today, Oklahoma is ranked 50th in quality of public education and 49th in access to affordable health care. After nearly two decades of one-party control, we are at the bottom of the lists that matter most to working families. It’s not because Oklahomans don’t care, it’s because the maps protect politicians instead of representing the people.
Oklahomans want a governor focused on what actually affects their lives: strong public schools, affordable and accessible health care, and an economy that works for everyday families. Those are not partisan issues. They are Oklahoma priorities.
As Governor, I will fight for real, sustainable investment in our public schools, including meaningful pay raises for teachers and support staff. I will work to strengthen and expand access to affordable and accessible health care, especially in rural Oklahoma. And I will focus on lowering costs and building an economy that works for everyday families.
Thank you to Governor Andy Beshear for having me on the podcast and helping elevate these issues. Oklahoma deserves better, and I trust the people of this state to help us move forward.
Hilary Knight: “It’s a great teaching point to really shine light on how women should be championed for their amazing feats. And now I sort of have to sit, or anybody has to sit in front of you and explain someone else’s behavior. It’s not my responsibility.”
In San Francisco, we are focused on delivering results for the people who live, work, and visit our amazing city. That's what I told everyone on The Pat McAfee Show, and that's what I tell San Franciscans every day.
This Super Bowl week, San Francisco is showing the world that we are a city on the rise.
This morning, I met with the ownership of the property at 2800 S. Council in Southwest Oklahoma City. The owners are not residents of Oklahoma and this is the only property they own in Oklahoma City.
The owners of the property at 2800 S. Council confirmed to me this morning that they are no longer engaged with the Department of Homeland Security about a potential acquisition or lease of this property.
I commend the owners for their decision and thank them on behalf of the people of Oklahoma City.
As Mayor, I ask that every single property owner in Oklahoma City exhibit the same concern for our community in the days ahead.
San Francisco is a city on the rise. This past year, we made strong progress on safer streets, our economic recovery, and a government focused on results. I spoke with ABC’s @jonkarl about what’s changed—and how we’ll keep delivering for San Franciscans.
On November 5, the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board voted 3-2 to grant clemency for Tremane Wood—who is wrongfully serving time on death row for a murder he did not commit. Now, his life is in the hands of the Governor.
If you believe in justice, now would be the time to use your voice to tell the Governor to use his power for good and to spare Tremane Wood his life.
You can reach out to the Governor’s office and let him know you don’t want your tax dollars going to a wrongful execution, two ways:
By phone: 405-521-2342
By email: [email protected]
From my understanding, the Governor’s office is keeping a log of those who contact his office for Tremane’s clemency.
Right now, Tremane is on death watch next to the execution chamber—an incredibly inhumane protocol—as we all wait for the Governor’s decision.
Ask the Governor to have mercy—and grant clemency.
Below is a photo of Tremane Wood and a graphic with additional advocacy notes, including facts of Tremane’s case. #alleyesontremanewood
Robert Garcia took on a bunch of Republican voters to make the new California map a possibility. Completely selfless and pro-democracy. Other Dems should take note and everyone should support his re-election.
